Don’t know if I’ve ever made a like a full post of my queer headcanons for the main characters of hetalia so I guess since it’s pride month I’ll do it now :)

North Italy: GNC cis man and bisexual with a preference for women. Loves wearing dresses and suits and anything pretty. Is currently dating Germany and wishes they could get married.

Germany: Gay cis man. Has had a many crushes on his soldiers and other nations but has only just started his first relationship with North Italy.

Japan: Angled aroace cis man, specifically demisexual and demiromantic. For the longest time just thought he didn’t feel romantic attraction but then fell in love with a close friend. In modern day he appreciates having a term for people like him, but often doesn’t feel the need to explain to others.

America: Questioning. For the longest time he thought he was straight but then during his revolution against England he got a major crush on Prussia. But now he isn’t sure where he falls, the only man he’s ever had feelings for was Prussia, and he’s been alive for centuries. For now he’s not putting a label on it, except questioning, he’ll figure it out one day.

China: Pansexual trans man. Realized as a very young nation he was trans, and is living proof that trans people aren’t a new fad. He’s not ashamed of who he is, but doesn’t exactly want the world to know. He had top surgery several centuries ago and doesn’t plan on ever having bottom surgery.

England: Cis queer/bisexual man. He’s also reclaimed fag and has a patch on his leather jacket that has the word on it.

France: Pansexual enby, goes by he/they in English and il/iel in French. Some days he feels more like a man and other feels more like neither man or woman. Sometimes a combination. As for attraction he’s attracted to anyone stunningly attractive, and there are many people who are! There are so many varieties of beauty and they’re happy they’ve met so many humans and nations who are all so unique.

Russia: Gay cis man. Has known for the longest time he’s gay, but sadly has tried to ignore this part of himself, even trying to destroy it. He’s afraid of what would happen if he were to admit it out loud, what would happen if others found out. One day though he’ll feel safe with the help of his fellow nations.

Can you do a pride Ivan headcanon?

Sure! I can really only see Ivan as gay. I’ve just never been able to ship him with any women.

I can hear some of you guys already. "But as a country Russia is so homophobic so no way he’d be gay!" But guess what? Just because a country is homophobic doesn't mean there aren't gay people there. They exist everywhere. So, Ivan is gay. However, I do think he would be in the closet. For one, I think he's just a sort of private person. Two, yes, there is a lot of homophobia in Russia, so he probably wouldn't be out. Three, I think he would have a lot of anxiety about dating in general, and would be SUPER nervous to ask someone out! He probably wrestled with his feelings a lot before realizing he was gay and that it's okay to feel the way he does! 

So for anyone still in the closet, please remember you're just as valid as everyone else. You don't have to come out until you're ready and it's safe to do so, and you're not any less than anyone else just because you haven't come out yet. Ivan loves you and so do I!

Happy pride month! Here’s the main trio with the colours of the sexualities I headcanon them with. I made a post if you want more detail.

I know I already answered an ask about Kiku, but I decided to draw it since I haven’t drawn a pan character yet! Kiku would totally be pan! A lot of his friends assume he’s asexual because he doesn’t talk much about love and dating at all and doesn’t seem to like physical affection all that much. The truth is, he’s like us internet fans who indulge shamelessly but often hide it from irl friends and family. He loves a good fairy tale fanfic-like ending but doesn’t have a preference for gender whatsoever. There are things about all genders that he finds sexy, and he often expresses his feelings through fanart and fanfic. He can get really into it when he wants to! But he’s also a little embarrassed about it, so he’s still a bit closeted in some sense. It’s just hard for him to show that part of himself to others, and he’s often too shy to act on it irl, especially the physical aspects of it. Someone else gotta make the first move on him.

I needed more ace rep so it was time to draw NK finally! I’m a little late but this coincides with @hetaliamondaychallenge‘s pride theme too.

So actually, NK is demi. A lot of people see him as very reserved and somewhat emotionless. It is true that he actively goes to great lengths to hide his emotions out of a desire to feel strong. However, the truth is that he is ruled by his emotions, many of them negative. But he really is a passionate person, even if he is distrustful to the point that it makes it hard for him to grow close to anyone. It follows then that having a strong emotional connection is a requirement for him to feel attraction to a person. He has bigger things to worry about than sex most of the time, but on the rare occasion that someone has broken through his barrier, that’s a big deal--and so he feels the attraction very intensely. He also happens to be panromantic! Because by the time he’s developed that emotional bond with someone, it could matter less to him what their gender is.

Another pride headcanon for you all! China! I see him as ace. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not aromantic by any means. In fact, he’s always thinking of romantic, poetic ways for people to get together! He’s definitely into romance, in fact, he’s homoromantic, in the most artsy, poetic, beautiful way possible! He dreams of finding the person who can complete him after 4000 years. He loves anything having to do with romance. But--he’s asexual. He’s just not into the sex part of it. Believe me, he’s tried everything, but nothing really appeals to him. He’s not sex repulsed, but he would rather think about legends and astrologies, and very romantic things to bring people together intellectually as opposed to sex. Also! He happens to be agender (thought leaning towards male...maybe even demiboy?). If you’ve paid attention to the comics at all, he doesn’t give much of a fuck when it comes to gender roles. After 4000 years, he’s abandoned the concept of gender entirely, but he still prefers he/him pronouns out of habit. So please--enjoy some asexual, homoromantic, agender China on me.

Maybe a late entry for @aph-latam-events day 7? I really wanted to do some stuff for it but ended up being too low on motivation all week to do much besides sleep and haul myself to work.

Anyway! My Mexico is definitely bi. He’s a shameless romantic and looooves all that gentlemanly sappy lovey dovey stuff. Problem is, when he realized he was developing feelings for men in addition to women, he went through a period of denial where he had to resolve his feelings with being a devout Catholic. It took some time, but he was able to come to terms with it to where he was able to accept himself being bi and let it coexist with his religion. Nowadays he’s happy to take just about anyone on a date!
