Rrose - Bare Hand
Rrose - Primary Evidence
Sandwell District have been releasing sounds of a darker kind from precise and talented artists for nine years. They started out in mystery with only a handful of releases per year and only a fax number on record sleeves as a point of contact. A website? No. Email? Nope. Nothing only a fax number. Now with the advances of modern technology the label has changed. They release more records. Still no website, google doesn't even give me an email and the fax is still being printed. TruFax.
Some will say this is a little pretentious, others will say it's a techno tradition started by the likes of Underground Resistance. I don't care either way. Who needs an email address as long as the label sticks to their ideals of intriguing techno? Rrose could be a number of people, we don't and probably won't know until his identity is cruelly exposed by modern advances like Twitter, Facebook or even the dreaded email.
Primary Evidence is a stomper. Secretion has a bass synth that is cruel and unforgiving. The darkness is kept together with stinging claps throughout. The B side goes a little easier but it won't cause you to immediately nod off either. The fast high pitched acid bass tones are kept in line with other acidic effects and a steady kick. It's techno the Rrose way. And long may it continue.
