Hey guys, I wanted to tell you guys about an idea that I would love to make a reality someday. You see, I have an idea for a continuation of the BBC series Primeval, called Primeval Revived. This Primeval continuation was originally called Primeval Rebooted, however I ultimately decided to title it Primeval Revived, due to it not actually being a reboot, and more of a revival. It's about a girl from Slidell, Louisiana named Jessica Hiller. She's an extremely intelligent student at the Sidell High School, and she's currently studying something huge. You see, in the middle of her history classes studies on the American Revolution, Jessica noticed something odd. There are suddenly depictions and illustrations of monstrous creatures resembling various prehistoric creatures that were majorly involved in the conflict due to their constant appearances in America. Not only was she confused, but everyone in the world was confused by the sudden apparent change in history. Now, Jessica is a historian and biologist, and had been keeping up with the news of the anomalies popping up around the world, and the creatures that came into the present as a result. And she began conducting research, ultimately developing a theory as to what caused this apparent change in history. She theorized that since anomalies can open up at any time, and anywhere in time, perhaps a series of anomalies opened up throughout the American Revolution, and that the creatures that emerged from the anomalies caused events that led to this change in history. She ultimately contacted Christoph Beutin. An advisor for the Anomaly Research Center facilities in mainland Europe. She tells him that she wants to form a team to study the anomalies and the creatures that come out of them. He doesn't think she's quite cut out for this, however, an anomaly opens up in Slidell, unleashing several prehistoric creatures into the modern world. Because the Anomaly Research Center doesn't have an official team working in the Southern United States, Christoph ultimately is forced to call upon Jessica to capture these creatures. She and her newly formed team succeed, and Christoph, impressed by their performance, decides to recognize the group as an official research team, and starts giving them the funding to expand their range in dealing with the anomalies. And later on, Jessica's team not only works in the Southern United States, but also throughout the Gulf of Mexico in the Caribbean and Mexico itself, and they even work alongside the group from Primeval New World in some of the states that sit in-between the Southern and Midwestern states such as Missouri and Kentucky. All the while, the individual members of the team develop as characters, and Jessica pursues her theory, even chasing certain creatures she recognizes from historical illustrations and accounts. Now, I myself am a big fan of Primeval, and for this revival of the series, I wanted to create something that respects the original source material, while doing something new with it. Hints so many individual aspects of this series. The new setting in the Southern United States and the Gulf of Mexico, bringing back the mystery element of the series with this idea of the past suddenly being altered by the anomalies and the creatures they unleash, a bunch of really well done storylines which take advantage of the culture of the region, all sorts of original and obscure creatures that still feel fitting for Primeval thanks to a basic similarity to the creatures of the original BBC series, and some new character dynamics that weren't explored in Primeval or Primeval New World. Now, I've actually designed a couple of creatures for this series concept already, and I plan to design more, so stay tuned as I start to post these designs. For now though, I want to give you guys a taste of what this series would be like and the stories it tells, so here's an idea for a season one episode list and what each episode is about.
Episode 1 Discovery Part 1: Jessica Hiller, a student at Slidell High School in Slidell Louisiana is studying history and biology when she learns about something odd. One day, everyone has woken up to find that there are now illustrations and accounts of monstrous creatures resembling various prehistoric creatures during the American Revolution. With its events having been altered quite a bit by this mysterious change. Jessica has long been interested in the anomalies, portals in time that have been opening all throughout time, unleashing prehistoric creatures into the modern world, and she has developed a theory. Since anomalies can open anytime and anywhere in time perhaps a long series of anomalies suddenly opened during the time of the American Revolution, causing this change in history. One night, an anomaly opens outside of town, and Jessica gets the chance of a lifetime. The chance to study the anomalies and the creatures that come out of them. And pursue her theory about a sudden change in history.
Episode 2 Discovery Part 2: With a team made up of her lifetime best friend Charlotte Dauphine as the team's dispatcher, her new friend Isaac Phillips as the team's weapons supplier and inspector plus active field member, and herself as the primary active field member, Jessica and her team close in on a pack of prehistoric wolves, and an aggressive theropod dinosaur.
Episode 3 Spreading Out: With the funding of the Anomaly Research Center, Jessica and her team expand their range and head to rural Mississippi to catch a terrifying feline predator that's been attacking pets.
Episode 4 Kicking Up Some Dust: Jessica and Issac head west to capture a unique Ceratopsian that found itself kicking up dust in a Texas rodeo.
Episode 5 Sharpened Points: Jessica is forced to confront two sharpened points. First off, Isaac has noticed how Jessica looks at other girls, causing Jessica to start to fear a repeat of an incident in her past. Jessica is bisexual, and admittedly likes girls just a bit more than men. She told her parents about her sexuality while she was younger, but they absolutely hated this, kicking her out of the house entirely. Thankfully her brother, who himself had tensions with their parents, let her stay with him until she could afford to move somewhere else. And with Issac seaming to be your typical conservative cajun individual, she fears he might quit immediately if he finds out about her sexuality. However, there's also some literal sharpened points here, as she and Isaac investigate a report of an anomaly opening at a New Orleans arcade, and find a dangerous Dromaeosaurid with a pair of sickle toe claws on each foot.
Episode 6 A Heartfelt Mission: Jessica and Issac head to a Mississippi farm that was having its livestock killed and eaten by an unknown predator. However, it turns out the couple who own the farm have a teenage daughter in the same age range as Jessica, who isn't exactly treated well by her parents. Mary Schneider, is a somewhat closeted lesbian girl due to her parents not approving of her sexuality, with her parents telling her she either has to be straight, or get out of the house. Now, Jessica seeks to both do her job, but also help Mary find a place where she doesn't have to worry about her sexuality. However, while considering letting Mary come with her to Slidell, Jessica faces a powerful saber-toothed cat, Xenosmilus.
Episode 7 A Date To Remember: Mary admits she's fallen for Jessica, and the two go out on a date at the Canal Place Shopping Mall. However, the date takes quite the turn when a pair of Dilophosaurs enter the mall through an anomaly, forcing Jessica to try and capture them, and for Mary to become a substitute for Isaac by being the second field member.
Episode 8 A Maximus: Mary has now become a full on member of the team, but while she and Jessica are trying to catch a Balaur Bondoc, the two of them accidentally go through an anomaly, and find themselves in the late Jurassic Period, and confront a predator that makes Balaur look tame. The Lord of the Lizard Eaters, Saurophaganax.
Episode 9 A Capture in the Sand: After the close call with the Saurophaganax, which Jessica suspects is one of the creatures seen in the illustrations and described in the accounts for the American Revolution, Jessica has the Anomaly Research Center give her team a device that can open and close anomalies. That way they have a way back if they accidentally walk into an anomaly, but also use it essentially as a teleporter to get them to missions too far away to reach normally. This device is tested when a Baryonyx emerges from an anomaly just offshore of Clearwater, Florida, and starts terrorizing the beach.
Episode 10 Fairly Crocodilian: During a county fair in Rossville, Georgia where country singer Lauren Alaina is performing, people start going missing in the rural areas on the outskirts of the fair. Jessica and her team investigate, and find a massive crocodilian in the swamps. They now know what's been terrorizing the area, but how are they gonna get it out?
Episode 11 The Facility: A resident in Houston, Texas, reports an anomaly opened up in his backyard, and a very small animal came out. Jessica and her team go to the residence, and find something strange. A Mink, but not a normal Mink. A DNA test confirms this is a specially genetically created Mink, one that's resistant to the diseases and conditions that would normally easily kill or sicken Minks. Because they have a device that can get them back to the present if need be, Jessica and her team decide to enter the anomaly to see where the Mink came from. They end up in an abandoned city outside a strange facility. However, the anomaly closing soon becomes the least of their problems. As another animal Jessica recognizes from the illustrations and accounts for the American Revolution shows up, the meat-eating bull itself.
Episode 12 Killer Pigs: The team heads to rural Texas, where a mysterious predator has been killing and eating livestock all over the state, and encounter a monstrous pig, Daeodon.
Episode 13 The Chase is On: Jessica and her team head to Mexico, where an unusually fresh footprint, determined to belong to a Carnotaurus was found around the ruins of a Mayan temple. However, this ultimately leads to the group encountering the Saurophaganax again, and this time, it's ready to show everyone the dominance it had in the Jurassic Period.
Episode 14 Team Up Part 1: After accidentally meeting Evan Cross and his team in Kentucky, Jessica makes a plan to capture the Saurophaganax and stop its rampage.
Episode 15 Team Up Part 2: After the plan goes wrong and Jessica and her team along with the Saurophaganax end up in 1781, and even though the massive theropod has disappeared, there's another problem. The team is attacked by a group of Beardogs, which unknowingly take the anomaly opening device as they retreat after being fought off. Now the team must get the device back, before unknowingly having to team up with Evan's team again in order to stop the Saurophaganax.
