i love primitive dog breeds they’re so funny. you get the ones that look most like small wolves but still act 100% like dogs. idiot wolf you can keep in your house playing tag and jumping over the couch again. idiot wolf you can keep in your house asleep under your bed again. idiot wolf you can keep in your house rolling around on the floor in excitement because people are awake again. favorite fools. non-dog folks see you walking the idiot and go “is that a wolf??” no he’s 1/4 the size and is crying loudly because the cat next door didn’t let him lick it twice

Hello tumblr, it's been a long time. Behold my bastard son.
This week in dog: we are still learning how to politely interact with the cat. We're failing in this image, because he wouldn't help us play with our crab (bottom left). I had her get off the bed before Cygnus took a swing at her.
Hiyori's prey drive and natural inclination towards rough play definitely make it hard for her to get along with the cat. She's really been struggling to leave him alone the last few weeks, but has started showing enough restraint to sit quietly with him or just lick his ears again, finally. I suspect this one step forwards, two steps back pattern will be continuous until she's an adult. The good news is, Cygnus is stupid and forgiving, and wants to be her friend still despite all her mistakes, even a few bad ones that scared him. I wish he was a little smarter though; she'd have an easier time ignoring him if he didn't sit right where she can run up to him. And then not move from that spot. After repeatedly getting jumped by 30 lbs of Shikoku.
Needless to say they aren't together unsupervised.
