princess of his heart
When Marinette first got involved with Prince Adrien, she wasn’t expecting, well, much. She was only a maid after all, and didn’t think anything of it. She was just a commoner of the kingdom of Altria, and he was the crown prince! There was no way he would be interested in her.
adrinette, 1.2k words, part of the build a blurb challenge, also on AO3.
When Marinette first got involved with Prince Adrien, she wasn’t expecting, well, much. She was only a maid after all, and didn’t think anything of it. She was just a commoner of the kingdom of Altria, and he was the crown prince! There was no way he would be interested in her.
Well, to say she was wrong was an understatement.
Adrien had become one of her closest companions over the past year. They told each other everything — complaints, squeals, tears and all — and had become extremely close.
They had become close that, well…
Marinette sighed as she stared at her swelling abdomen in the mirror, sighing as she looked down at it and rubbed the material of the silk nightgown that covered the area. Adrien had funnily enough bought her that nightgown, just as easily as it had been for him to sneak into her heart.
They hadn’t planned to have a child — hell, he didn’t even know how she felt — but he had been hosting a ball to find his muse and she got jealous.
Truthfully, she thought her jealousy was valid. Who wanted the love of their life to be with someone else?
expanding the cast of characters now!
First up we have Jukka Greyjoy (Luka Couffaine) next to our bb Prince Adri for height comparison. He’s still most likely going to go through a few more stages for design but main things that are going to keep is his hair (probably) and that big, lovely greyjoy coat!
Then there’s a new face, Priestess Lilian, an obvious variant of The Red Woman Melisandre. Whether Lilian is an acolyte for R'hllor or a victim of unrequited love who chases vengeful ambitions under religious giuses is tbd...

In a shameless Cinderella AU, Prince Adrien goes incognito as Chat Noir to find himself a spouse at the most elaborate masquerade the kingdom has ever seen.
Chapter One: In Which Our Protagonists Are Introduced
“You need to relax.”
“You’re not the one who has to find themselves a spouse at a masquerade ball.” It was precisely six-fifteen in the evening, and Prince Adrien was already looking forward to seeing the guests leave. Under normal circumstances, he would have been in his element modelling for his father – King Gabriel’s elaborate balls, though the guests politely pretended otherwise, were usually an excuse to show off his latest designs. Besides, seeing the ballroom full of people made a pleasant change from the echoing loneliness of the castle in his day-to-day life.
Today’s ball, however, was not “normal circumstances”.
“I thought you were ready to start searching?” Nino, his valet, asked as he unfolded a pair of trousers for later and laid them on the bed.
“I am! I just,” Adrien groaned and dropped down next to the trousers, “I’d just rather do it in my own time. This masquerade feels so…unnecessary.”
Nino hummed a sound that was somewhere between you-have-a-point and masquerade-balls-are-fun-so-quit-complaining, as he pulled a shirt from the wardrobe and squinted at it. “It’s not your style, huh?”
“I’m a model, Nino. Everything’s my style.”

welp look who's back again :) this is the third chapter of my take on @mikoriin 's seamstress au. a little flashback here, a dash of sacarsm there, and a pinch of adrienette (a really tiny pinch) i hope u enjoy it :>>
---
Smile. Look charming. Bear with her. Those were the thoughts going through Adrien's mind on a loop since he left the castle. With that broken recorder playing in his brain, he strode into the Bourgeois mansion. He hoped to spend just a couple of hours here, preferably in the gardens, although considering how... generous it's heiress is, he figured he'd have to stay for dinner.
Since Adrien couldn't give a name when asked who was to be his bride, a beyond ticked off King Gabriel decided to take matters into his own hands. Chloe was picked, naturally, for she was the daughter of the Royal Court's chief. Of course it was the obvious choice, Adrien had thought with sacarsm. Yes, my future is shining so brightly with her. Yay.
Many emotions were present that day. There was happiness, from the Bourgeois family, it was practically radiating from Chloe in particular. Next was sadness and disappointment, like Adrien. Oh, and don't forget Lila's "Oh, how could you not pick me, Prince Adrien!" with bonus crocodile tears! (The most important detail. Really.) And of course everyone else's "I'm just here for the cool party and food so I'll just politely clap and be happy for the newly engaged prince and whoever that is i guess."
So this is how the story goes, and Adrien hated it.
Once discovering Chloe won't be gracing him with her presence since she was having one of her bubble baths, Adrien excused himself and tried not to run to the gardens with joy. A welcome change of events, and definitely a small victory in his dull day.
---
The garden was mesmerising, Marinette had to admit. This was the place where most of her inspiration came from ever since she had to move into the mansion. The rose bushes, of different colours of the rainbow. Lotus flowers floating delicately on the little pond by the old willow tree. Tiny dandelions as fuzzy as a bunny's tail, birds and insects creating melodious harmonies. There's so much nature with so many colours, with all the relaxing fresh air.
Marinette settled down on a stone bench, having drawn inspiration from some marigolds that she chanced by. She was accompanied by a little red bird perched on her shoulder, who she decided to name Tikki, so that she could have a conversation with it (More like thinking aloud to it).
Grey lines followed the pencil with each precise stroke. Ideas swirled around Marinette's head, each one fighting to be chosen. "Oh Tikki, I hope Alya will love the dress I'm going to make! I saw a shade of orange at the ball that I know will go with her complexion." A chirp in reply. Marinette took it as an agreement and started humming cheerfully, adding the finishing touches to her sketch.
A flicker of black was seen in the corner of her eye, forcing Marinette to turn her attention towards the man who she failed to notice approach. His eyes were widened to the size of saucers. Is there something in my hair? She opened her mouth to ask, but he beat her to it, words escaping his lips like a breath.
"My lady?"

2 weeks to the wedding. As much as it pains Marinette, she's gotta work if she wants to keep her job. She's currently taking measurements for her employer, wedding dress designs flowing through her head. Maybe some tulle that will trail behind her, or some intricate beading for the back? Not sure if gloves would look good, she would have to trial and error with different details.
The palace had their own seamstresses who could surely make a stunning dress with their extensive supply of fabrics and bits and bobs. And finish much faster too. But Chloe probably made her do it so that she would constantly be reminded that Adrien could never be with someone like her. Oh what Marinette would give to take a peek into their collection, all the outfits she would make... Okay okay, Marinette you have to focus. You already have a bunch of materials at your fingertips.
Just then, a bell rang. "Ah, that must be Adrien. Send him in Sabrina!" Chloe all but barked. Marinette panicked, wanting to avoid the prince at all costs. She sped up her work, hoping to finish before he comes in. Of course, just as she was done with the final measurement, he came in with all the glory of a prince. He saw her, eyes blowing wide and cheeks tinted pink, matching her, and she quickly packed up or else her flustered state would get worse.
"I'll sketch up some drafts and show them to you by tomorrow, Lady Chloe. Once you pick out something you like I can start making the dress immediately." Marinette reluctantly got out, before excusing herself after Chloe waved her off. She went up to her room to grab her sketch book and headed for the garden, hoping to sketch out ideas before she forgot and to find more inspiration.
---
Adrien sadly watched as his Ladybug exited the room. He had been ecstatic to see her after a week, hoping upon hope that he would be able to talk with her again. She however, was avoiding him like the plague.
"Oh Adrikins, I'm not dressed! You naughty boy!" Chloe giggled. Adrien was brought out of his thoughts, turning immediately to give her some privacy. He most certainly did not want to see Chloe without proper clothing on. He saw his bag and remembered something.
"I'm sorry, but may I know if that was your seamstress?" Adrien inquired, fully expecting his betrothed to reply sourly. "Why yes. Yes, she was. Why did you ask?" Ah, there it is. With narrowed eyes and a huff too.
"I just need to pass her some things."
"You can simply hand it over to Sabrina. She'll bring it up to her room."
"Although I appreciate the offer, these items come with specific instructions that she must be informed of. By order of the King." Adrien gave his best smile.
"Ugh, very well. Just take the stairs by the door up to the attic. I'll be waiting by the tea room where we'll discuss about the wedding. Come, Sabrina!" And then she was gone.
The prince heaved a sigh of relief and headed up to the attic room as per Lady Chloe's instructions. He came face to face with a dark oak wood door, not as exquisite as the one in the castle, but fancy enough for her family's status.
He knocked once. No answer. He knocked a second time. "Marinette?" Again, there wasn't any sound nor movement in the room. He turned the knob and entered the room, with the intent of apologising for entering uninvited, to find the room devoid of any human life.
Adrien was disappointed. No, there weren't any specific instructions to give, just that she was free to use the materials within the bag as she wished, and she could keep them. Only the most expensive fabrics and threads for the prince's bride, courtesy of the royal family. Instructions were an excuse to speak with her once more.
He looked around the room, filled with fabrics, scattered papers, a sewing machine. There were also pictures, filled with many different people, but he only ever noticed one person with the brightest smile he's ever seen. A design caught his eye, a simple dress that he knows she'll look stunning it. Heh, as if she'll ever look bad. She'll make rags look fashinable.
And when he looked out of the window, he felt a pang in his chest, a green-eyed monster forming in his chest.
