Prince looked towards his classmates in awe. They were having a training session out in the field today, and he could already see the chaos unfolding in front of him, despite the class only starting a few minutes ago. He yearned to join them, and probably would’ve given into his wants if it wasn't for the older inkling standing next to him.
“You’re frustrated, aren’t you?” Marie, the homeroom teacher of his class, asked him, though she didn’t even turn to look at him, eyes still trained on the other students as another explosion went off. Rider’s work, he guessed.
“Y-Yeah.” Prince looked down towards his feet, failing to hide his frown.
“Well, you know why you can’t.”
“Of course.” He stared at his gloved hands, curling them tightly into fists.

They didn’t say anything to each other for a few minutes, only listening to the sounds coming from the battlefield of quirks in front of them.
“I’m sorry I can’t do anything more to help.”
He almost jumped at the sudden voice in his head before relaxing once he realized it was just Marie, the older girl still not looking at him.
“It’s alright.” He spoke softly. “It’s out of your control.”

“Your quirk is real special, you know?”
“Yeah:” He mumbled. “I know better than anyone else….”
“Don’t worry, once you learn to control it, you’ll be able to join the rest of them. No one wants to be alone.” She paused, and took a few steps back, making Prince send a confused glance her way.
“Speaking of,” Marie twirled her umbrella, smirk forming on her face. “I think someone is here to keep you company.”
Prince continued to give her a confused look before the sound of feet hitting the dirt got louder and louder. Suddenly, he felt the ground move as he was tackled by an unseen force.
“Heya Prince!” A dark skinned and yellow inkling grinned at the young boy below him, said person grinning right back at the enthusiastic inkling.
“Eging! What are you doing here?”
“Here to check out the fresh meat, duh.” Eging helped him up, and Prince dusted off any dirt from his gym uniform.

“Don’t you have classes too?”
“Pssh, nah.” He waved the question away. “Classes are suspended for us since everyone is doing their work studies. I had some free time and figured I’d see what the freshies are like.” He tilted his head slightly.
“Why aren’t you with the group?”
“Oh, right. That’s a total bummer, this is the most exciting part of hero training.” He scratched his head, stopping when he suddenly got an idea.
“Well, if you can’t join them, why don’t we just observe more closely?” He lifted Prince up suddenly, the younger inkling letting out a surprised squeak as he instinctively clung onto his back.
“I wanna see all the new quirks in this batch too! Hold on tight, kid!”
“Eging, I did not approve of th-“ Marie tried to call out, but with a single rev of his engines, he and Prince were gone from her side, sprinting towards the field where the chaos was happening. Marie let out a sigh as their figures got further and further away from her.
