I 100%ed* KIRBY SUPER STAR ULTRA FOR THE FIRST TIME! I'M SO HAPPY!!

It's my favorite video game of all time, let alone favorite Kirby game. It's one of the very first video game I remember playing (with Kirby Squeak Squad and Super Princess Peach, both on Nintendo DS).

I love this game so much, and it was really fun to finally 100%* it!!!

*I did not complete the sub-game Helper to Hero with every helper. I only did it with Burning Leo

OK I just finished the Magolor Epilogue, and I have some thoughts about it

TL:DR: I loved it, and I have an interpretation of the level design of this game as Magolor trying so very hard to remember what has happened to him. Not in an amnesia-way but more in a "when did it all went wrong?"-way.

It was so so cool!!! I had a blast playing it!

I find it impressive how this game mode really sinks in how weak Magolor has gotten. There is such a difference between playing as Kirby, and when playing as early-game Magolor.

I love that the levels are a mix of original levels and remixes of levels from the base game. Whenever it's a level from the base game, you have to go through it in reverse (from right to left, instead of the usual left to right, which was the way you went when playing as Kirby) and with the purple wall right behind you.

I also appreciated the way the bosses have changed order and elements.

I love that it's mainly just the base game but messier and all mixed up. It feels like a story you try to remember but your memory gets confused and it mixes up the order of events. It fills up the gaps with whatever it can (just like the orignal levels in between the old ones). Like you're trying to remember when it started, and that's why you start from the end and go back to the beginning of the levels that actually happened in the base game, as if trying to remember the beginning of something, tracing back your steps to figure it out.

But it is so, so messy. The memories are foggy, it looks and sounds similar and yet nothing feels the same.

What Magolor might be trying to remember, I don't know.

There is obviously the interpretation that he has to go on the very same path Kirby went in his adventure. A way of showing him the trouble Kirby had to go through in order to help him, so now Magolor can understand how messed up it was to betray someone who went this far and wide without ever asking for something in return. It's one way the Epilogue has to represent Magolor's redemption.

Yes there's a bit of that.

But I might add, like I said, it's not just going back on Kirby's steps. We are doing it in reverse, we are going back to something prior, to the very beginning.

So that's why I like to interpret it as Magolor trying to remember something, the very beginning. The moment it all went wrong.

That's the feeling I got from this epilogue.

I've discovered this two weeks ago and I've been listening to it regularly

It's an absolute BANGER.

However, like any songs that gets stuck in my head, I can't help but try to sing it in French (French is my mother tongue)

And now that means I've been trying to translate this song on and off for the past two weeks And god DAMN it is hard

Do you know how impossibly hard it is to translate lyrics such as:

In hubris, I had wished to be Sole ruler of the galaxy I thought I'd make them bow to me Now I bow to the crown

While maintaining the number of syllables of each verses, having coherent rhyming scheme, and keeping to a maximum degree the same meaning as the original??

Yeah I didn't really realise before I started it

But now I'm invested, and I plan on finishing it

i am currently working on a kirby au which is basically:

what if the story of Persona 5 Royal took place on Pop Star?

i try to adapt the story as closely as i can while being consistent with the kirby univeverse and characters

my biggest struggle while planing this au is analysing the structure and themes and characters and narration of persona 5, and realising i will never make something as good or profound.
