When a most unusual request for aid reached the territories of Neverspring, the warlord Mirror sent for his best warriors.
"This seems appropriate for The Hunter," he mused.
"My lord, The Hunter has traveled to the Seven Fountains to serve your grandmother, the queen," his advisors reminded him.
"Then send Blackwing," Mirror replied.
"Which one, my lord?" the poor advisors sighed, "There are six of them!"
"Whichever isn't serving in my army or escorting my fiancee to the Seven Fountains at this particular moment. Look, it's rare enough for the kingdom of Tangle to ask the Neverspring Territories for help, let alone anyone from a province as small as mine. It must be serious."
And so it was that Sparrow Blackwing, second youngest of her family, found herself traveling to the kingdom of Tangle. There were a few unpleasant run-ins along the border of Spindle and Tangle as she went. Spindle's queen was fond of expanding her territory. She'd already absorbed two smaller kingdoms, and seemed to have her eye on Tangle next. Sparrow knew that Queen Dawn of Spindle was the primary reason that the queen of Seven Fountains and her warlords were working to merge the Neverspring Territories into a more unified alliance. If the Spindlings were already advancing on the Bespelled Woods to get to Tangle, Queen Snow and the Seven Lords needed to work faster.
When she rode up to the palace gates, she found the scene of a festival, interrupted. Booths had been overturned, a jousting arena smoldered with the remains of a recently extinguished fire, and worried people huddled in murmuring groups.
"The tournament's off, didn't you hear?" someone called out.
Sparrow pulled down her mouth guard for a moment, and noticed some surprised reactions. "I'm not here for a tournament," she said.
When she entered the palace, she was met in a wide entrance hall by a tall, thin man with an impressive beard. He took in the sight of her distinctive armor, and the crest of Lord Mirror on her shoulder, and raised his eyebrows.
"You aren't here for the tournament, I take it," he said. He sounded more than a little hopeful.
Sparrow bowed with a smile. "I have come from the Swan's Province of Seven Fountains on behalf of Lord Mirror. Seven Fountains received a request for assistance, and Lord Mirror was anxious to reply. If I am insufficient to address the problem, my elder sisters will be sent to provide us with aid."
"Oh thank heavens," the nobleman sighed. He almost seemed to deflate with the force of his relief. "The message got through after all."
"Indeed, sir," Sparrow said, and retrieved the scroll from her belt. "But I did wonder if perhaps I'd misunderstood something. It says that a warrior is needed to rescue...a dragon? From a princess?"
Lord Ulfric closed his eyes and grimaced. "Yes, you read that right. I don't know what Princess Aria was thinking."
"Ah," said Sparrow.
This complicated matters somewhat.

“Dearest princess,” the aging sorcerer began, clasping his hands before his beard. “Favored pupil. With all the respect due your rank, and all the fondness of your mentor: Gadzooks, girl! What were you thinking?!”
Aria had the faintest trace of a smirk still fluttering around the edges of her mouth as she attempted to wipe the soot from her hands. She left long, black streaks on her lavender dress, but she hardly seemed to notice.
“Oh, don’t be angry, Uncle Ulfric! It’s all part of the plan, remember?”
Ulfric seemed to Ser Blackwing to be on the verge of either fainting or becoming hysterical.
“The plan? No! This was not the plan! The plan was to send the prince on a safe Quest and move to safeguard the kingdom afterwards!” He tugged sharply at his beard and made several anxious glances towards the closed door. “How, exactly, does turning young Theodore into a dragon factor into this?!”
Aria turned and reached for the door handle again. “You said we couldn’t send him out to the coast until he could protect himself, what with Captain Cinder on her annual rampage down there. And we needed a way to stop the tournament once and for all. I just...decided to kill two birds with one stone, that’s all.”

What’s their favourite activity on a rainy day?
Aria loves just- running around in it! The forest usually gets misty so it’s really surreal, and it seems like a different planet
