Nova has always been a curious and friendly pony, excited to learn all she can about the world around her. Always running amuck in Canterlot castle, trying to discover secret rooms to different fantastical lands, attempting to fight mysterious monsters in the castle shadows, conducting grand heists on grand ancient ruins.
Having such a vivid imagination that draws her to adventure, it was no wonder that she earned her cutie mark on one of her self directed journey's around Canterlot castle as a foal. While her mother had lost sight of their daughter, becoming distressed the longer she was away. They soon heard a cry of excitement, as they found Nova had discovered a long forgotten wishing well deep in the Castle's gardens. And in her joy at her most magnificent discovery, her mother pointed out the shining new cutie mark on her flank. A winding path leading to a mountain with a bright star at its peak. What a joyous day it was for the family.
But sadly for Nova she could only dream of adventure now, as a princess she is expected to become part of the Royal Council and help guide the land of Equestria alongside her royal relatives. But that bores Nova to no end, which often leads her to skipping her royal classes to sneak out and explore Canterlot market. Which also leads her into getting in big trouble with her mother Twilight.
Twilight has set high expectations for her daughters, her family being successful and influential ponies known all over Equestria. She has been trying her best to give Nova the best education that she can within Equestria, urging her to keep her future focused on what she can do for her family and her subjects. Twilight can see Nova’s immense talent for magic, wanting to foster Nova skills to become one of the most powerful unicorns just as she once was.
But as hard as she tries, Nova always pushes back, her heart set on adventure. Due to their conflicting desires Nova and Twilight have a somewhat strained relationship, but both try their best to understand each other even if they don't really want to compromise.
Nova has a much closer relationship with her mum Rarity. Her mum understands her daughter's drive and passion for adventure and wants nothing more than to prepare her daughter for the world outside. But part of her wants to keep her here, safe from the dangers out there but even so, she pushes Twilight to understand their daughter. She is the princess of friendship, but I guess it doesn't always translate well into parenting.
Nova and her sister Starbright, have quite a bond. Starbright being a loving and guiding older sister, always urging Nova to follow her dreams and stay true to herself. They both love to joke around and gossip about all kinds of things, especially the scandals going on with their maids and guards. Though now that Starbright is an official Council member, Nova is often left on her own much to her dismay. Finding Canterlot to be one of the most boring places on the planet.
With Nova being the friendliest of ponies, she has no shortage of friends all over Equestria, her closest of friends being the jokester unicorn Jester Night. They met as young fillies in school, always laughing together and performing dazzling displays of magic in class. Over the years they have forged a unique bond built on humour and deep trust, being each other's rock in hard times. Though recently they haven't been able to hang out as much due to Jester joining the Equestrian Majestical Theatre troupe. Luckily her other closest friends Zapple Storm and Milkshake, live in Ponyville which is a simple carriage ride away and Twilight would never say no to a trip to ponyville! Nova also enjoys a good race with Zapple at Sweet Apple Acres (while losing every time) and causing mischief with Cheese Cake in Sugar Cube corner.
Nova is growing up quickly and life will not wait for her to feel ready to make a choice about what she wants her life to be. She must decide before time runs out and she's inaugurated as a new ruler of Equestria.
