I really liked these two characters. It was interesting that in the Hexer they involve Geralt with Renfri’s backstory with him rescuing her from her stepmother’s men and escorting her to the gnome bandits. Assuming they follow canon that makes him killing her later hurt even more 🥲
The monster fight scenes are so goofy but still fun and Morenn was cool. Geralt and her were sweet together. I’m guessing that their relationship was an intro to Geralt’s continued struggle with figuring out what emotions he’s capable of sharing with people.

Emma Appleton as Princess Renfri | The Witcher 1.01
"Do you know what happened to me, Witcher?"
Renfri's voice is like a whisper, a flicker of smoke in the room, snaking through the air, and her eyes glint, spark, in the firelight. Still, still, Geralt keeps his breathing steady, stays unmoving as stone, thinks this isn't real, this isn't real as convincingly as he can. She is a ghost - worse than a ghost, a guilty conscience.
This isn’t real.
She speaks anyways, low and sharp, throws words like daggers from the shadows. "Stregobor kept my body. Experimented on me. Cut me open. I woke up with his hand in my stomach." Geralt is silent. He catches a flash of white as she snarls, teeth bared as if ready to snap around his throat and tear. “I killed him, you know. You put all that effort in, let me go through all that pain, all for nothing. I gutted him, showed him how it feels. Hung him from the window of his own tower.”
Every muscle in his body tenses. His eyes trail towards his small bag, set carelessly aside, his sword, just out of reach. He wonders whether it would be worse to grab it, swing, and connect, or to grab it, swing, and slice through only air.
The voice comes next from behind him, too close to his ear, certain that if he turned his head now, he would see - it, in full light, whatever it may be. Ghost or girl or monster or nothing at all. "Can I have my brooch back now, or did you weld it to the sword?"
He doesn’t turn his head.
"Why did you keep it? Did you grieve me, Geralt? Were you haunted by it? Did you see me every time you tried to close your eyes, tried to rest?” There is a touch, featherlight on his jaw. She could grip his face easily, force his neck to turn, to snap it or to meet his eyes. It registers as a threat. His pulse quickens. His fingers flex towards a knife strapped to his leg.
He doesn’t move - maybe the closest thing to a yes he could give her.
The touch disappears. Her tone is cold, now, waves of ice. “That did so much for me. Keep your grief. It's the only thing you care about, anyways."
Geralt could say so many things. So many truths, retorts rising sharply in his throat. But he has nothing to give ghosts. He stares at his sword, at her brooch, until the sun comes up, and he is alone.
(Months later, in the far flung reaches of a kingdom he would like nothing more than to never return to, Yennefer tells him over a drink that this bastard wizard she knew was found dead, and.
Something in his chest twists.)
“the end’s beginning”
When I cut my finger, I bleed. That’s human, right? When I overeat, my stomach aches. When I’m happy, I laugh. When I’m upset, I swear. And when I hate someone for stealing my whole life from me, I kill him; Emma Appleton as Princess Renfri of Creyden in The Witcher
