Hey. Do you ship Hummelberry romantically? I love their friendship but somehow can't bring myself to see them in any other way. I'm not sure why, it's not the gay thing because I don't see Raine as half as strange as I think of romantic Hummelberry. If you do, what is it that makes you ship them like that?
I do indeed!
I totally get it, not a lot of people do ship them romantically. I understand why people can’t comprehend the idea, because Kurt is gay and because of Finchel, Brochel etc. I just want to say, I ship Klaine and Finchel also lol.
I started to ship them at the start of the third season when they had all of their scenes during 3x01. It all started because of one common interest: broadway. They were both so passionate about going to New York and getting into NYADA. They bonded that way as opposed to Blaine being a junior and Finn not knowing what he wanted to do after HS. They’re good for each other. He sets her straight sometimes when she’s being a little crazy and has someone to lean on when she’s upset. She gets him to stretch outside his comfort zone and helped him realize that he’s ‘lonely, but not alone.’
When Season 4 started, I shipped them a tiny bit less because of how different she was acting towards him. That changed in 4x09 however during their talk (just before Being Alive). This time she comforted and reassured him. Then 4x13 came along and can I just say I love their fights. They’re both so stubborn and passionate it’s great to watch their banter. And yes, Rachel was being a diva in that episode more so than usual, and when Kurt won MM he was humble towards her and I think was trying to show good sportsmanship. Point: they both know what they want, they have similar (if not the same) goals and they are both so beautiful, lol
I just… ugh if Kurt was straight I think something would’ve definitely happened with them, whether she was with Finn or not :)
princesspreferscinderella replied to your post: WHY IS IT SO HARD TO FIND A DECENT PAIR OF LENGTHY...
Try animal, they do knee length ones. So do most sports shops.
Thank you! Wisconsin just makes it seriously hard in the winter to walk into a store and get swim apparel. It's all snowshoes and heaters to make sure you don't die in the next blizzard.
princesspreferscinderella replied to your post: Why did it take me until now to realize I have...:I have Lily hair. It’s red and curly. We could genetically modify a baby and call it Lily.
When Severus realised he was dying, all he felt was relief. All he had lived for, all he had ever lived for, was Lily and after she was gone, her son. Being worthy of her was impossible, the chance taken from him my the man he called 'Master', but he had done for Harry what he had failed to do for her. And as the blood poured from the snake bite to his neck, all he knew was that when he finally saw her again, he might just be able to look her in the eye.
Those eyes.
He had to see them one last time while he was still a living being. He reached out a desperate, grappling hand, his fingers closing around the collar of Harry's robes. He pulled the boy towards him, “Look...at...me,” he gasped. Harry's- Lily's emerald eyes met his cold, black ones and something flashed inside them. Something only she could awaken inside of him.
Then the robes slipped from his grasp and his eyes extinguished, the final light he possessed only for Lily faded and he was dead.
He opened his eyes to bright sunlight and thought at first that it was what had woken him, but then he felt someone shaking him, something soft tickling his face. A flaming curl of red hair. Severus did not move. He didn't speak. He did not even dare to breathe. Surely she was just an illusion, one that would vanish as soon as he shattered the perfect moment of stillness.
But Lily was anything but still. She tugged on his arm, her smile beaming at him, more warming than the burning rays of sun scorching his bare skin. “C'mon Sev, we'll be late for potions,” there was a gleam in her eye as she said that, knowing the dark dungeons were where he most shone. She was pulling so forcefully on his arm that he had no choice to get up to avoid it being torn from his shoulder, and somehow, she did not disappear.
He followed her, because there was no reason to do anything else and noticed for the first time that something was out of place. It was not just that he was following the teenage version of his dead love through Hogwarts grounds, apparently on his way to potions, but something else. Something that blurred the edges of what should have been solid and misted the breeze that blew Lily's flame red hair around her perfect face. Something that made her hand in his feel light, ghostly.
A memory.
Of course, it was nothing but a memory. One that he appeared to be a living, breathing part of, but her small hand was tucked into his as if it were normal and he felt nothing. He could only imagine how her skin felt against his, how her laugh awakened a long dead part of him, how the sight of her curls dancing in the breeze stirred something in his cold eyes. Lily was there and she breathed and she lived, but he was not a part of himself.
It was still better than any life he had lived for so many years, so he walked by her side towards the dungeons and did not unlock their fingers, even when James Potter wolf whistled arrogantly and when Severus turned to the sound, he saw the other boy's face laughing at his own mockery, but twisted with the jealousy he had so often seen in his own reflection. He did not even feel a stab of satisfaction.
Neither did he feel the cold wind in the dungeon or the sharp pain when he sat on a pin, so carefully and maturely planted by James and his gang, no doubt. Lily saw Severus remove it from his chair with a swipe of his hand and glared disapprovingly at the culprits, who were not looking at them, but innocently towards the front of the classroom, as if they had nothing to be ashamed (or proud) of. There was no thrill of superiority as he answered each question in the class perfectly, or brewed the exact shade of sunset red on his first attempt at the potion, allowing Lily to copy his every action.
The class passed in the same strange blur as everything appeared, and Severus barely took his eyes away from Lily, observing her every moment he got, desperately willing himself to feel something. His original assertion that he was in a memory was becoming more and more falsified as the minutes floated by, fusing together so time made no sense. Seconds would pass in hours, and then he would look at the clock a moment later to find they had spent two long hours in the cold of the stone walls that he could not feel. If it was a memory, he would have lived it before and although James' sneers and pranks were so normal that he could not remember one from the other, he knew Lily's fingers twisted in his were not something he would have forgotten so easily.
Lily practically dragged him from the room as soon as the bell rang to signal the end of the lesson so he barely had time to gather his things together, not that he found the emotion to care, and he followed her blindly. He knew they were headed to the lake before they arrived there and would have smiled, had he known the feeling that came with it. It was as if he were in a detailed dream. One in which he could only experience ghosts of emotions. He could know what he should feel, but he was too distant to physically contain the emotion.
He still dangled his feet in the lake beside Lily and listened to her giggle as she kicked up her foot to splash him with the cool water. He even flicked his own toes back at her and she shrieked, as if she had expected to get away with it.
“You're quiet today,” she commented, tilting her head to one side and narrowing her eyes, but the sparkle did not leave them.
“I'm sorry,” he apologised, knowing he should be, but barely feeling the remorse that tickled inside him. “My mind is elsewhere.” She laughed like he'd said something hilarious and leaned so close he could feel the heat of her breath.
“Perhaps this will help bring it back to me,” she murmured, leaning closer.
Her lips did not touch his before the strange world dissolved.
…
He awoke again in a much more comfortable position than the hard bark of a tree. It was light, but not the same blinding sunlight from the Hogwarts grounds. Above him, he saw only white and for a moment, Severus wondered if he really was completely dead that time, but then something moved beside him and out of the corner of his eye, he saw the familiar flash of flame.
Lily lay, older and asleep, beside him, her hair falling around her face and brushing against his, but it was still misshapen somehow, her shape was blurred and unreal. Severus did not wake her, but was as content as with anything to just lie beside her and imagine what he should be feeling.
He was sharing a bed with the only woman he had ever loved, the one he had always loved, and somehow, he could not feel a thing. How was it that he did not feel at perfect ease with her hair across his shoulder? But instead, he just felt a strange fear, as if he had everything he ever wanted, but it came at a price too awful to exchange. It was like waiting for everything to twist and become as ugly as it had been in his living life. Or worse.
Severus knew she was awake before she spoke, murmuring a good morning, but he could hear the smile in her voice that told him she was glad to wake up beside him. So why could he not be too? He followed her down stairs of what he could only assume was their house when she had woken up enough to move. What should have been a perfect moment was nothing more than a distant dream.
Plates and toast floated around him, buttering itself and flopping neatly onto the china, and still nothing felt real. Lily's outline blurred even more as she twirled around the kitchen, catching knives by their handle and plucking them from the air before they took anyone's eye out and biting into a slice of buttery toast as Severus just watched on, making no attempt to eat anything himself.
A slice of half eaten toast found a new home face down on the kitchen floor as it bounced off his head. Severus raised an eyebrow at Lily, unamused, but she just laughed. “Look alive Sev,” she grinned.
That's just the thing, he thought to himself, I'm not alive and neither are you.
Then, just as if his thoughts had been heard, the old fashioned, cottage house kitchen dissolved around him and Lily's laughing face faded away.
…
Flames flickered in front of his eyes when he opened them. Real flames, not the brilliant brightness of Lily's hair. A fire raged near sofa he was rested on, contained in a grate, but unsurprisingly, he felt none of it's warmth. His own wrinkled hand caught his eye and with a glance around the room he was in, he saw it was much the same style as the kitchen in which he'd been assaulted by a slice of toast.
It was he who had changed. He was older than he had ever been, but Lily was still curled against him, her white hair long and fanning over the shoulder of his midnight blue robes. She was still, but not asleep, smiling contentedly towards the fire as if it were the most magical thing she had ever seen. A feeling uglier than the longing he had felt almost the whole of his life over took him, because having her there, right beside him and his, but not being able to feel it was worse than being without.
He had been handed three perfect moments, but they had been tainted and twisted to such a degree, that it would have hurt less to die without ever having known how she looked sleeping beside him.
“Sev?” She murmured beside him, her voice croaking from age.
“Hmmm?” He replied, not trusting his voice not to betray his pain with anything more coherent.
“I'm glad I ended up with you.”
It sounded too much like a goodbye and as soon as the words had left her lips, the final, most brief moment with Lily vanished, and another did not take its place.
…
A large jolt shot Severus out of his slumber and he woke to hills rolling by the glass, misted by his breath. “You've got to get changed Sev, we're almost there.”
Lily.
But it didn't make any sense for her to be there. Everything was clear. She was clear. The blurred outside lines from his dreams were gone, and she, and the rest of the Hogwarts' Express, looked just as solid as he felt himself. He blinked and it did not dissolve. The only change was the frown that appeared across Lily's smile.
“Come on,” she said more urgently. She pointed out of the window. “Look! There's the castle. You don't want to get detention before you've even set foot in it, now change!” She threw his robes at him and Severus couldn't help but smile. Lily's bossy side was the one trait that had always caused his eyes to roll, but when she was gone, it had been the part he missed most.
She scowled at him and Severus felt a pang at being the one to put it there followed by a giant leap of europhia. He had felt it. She was there, frowning, bossy and in front of him, and he could feel. A great grin spread across his face, one that only deepened her frown as she immediately assumed he was laughing at her. “Now look here, Severus-” But just what he had to look at, Severus never found out, because in the next moment, he stopped her words with his lips. Her solid, full lips and again the delicate, fragile world around him dissolved, but it did not disappear.
Lily remained and past her moment of surprise, she kissed him back.
Perhaps it would stop as soon as they broke apart. Perhaps it was another, more realistic dream, there only to torture him. Or maybe it was really there, his second chance. Maybe, in the end, he had earned her love. But of one thing, Severus could be completely sure with her lips pressed against his.
I hate Quinn with a burning passion. And I am glad I'm not the only one. Thank you for that shred of sanity you restored to my life with your I Am Unicorn post.
