*hot air balloon ride*

a month ago, i was able to cross off one experience that had been on my bucket list for quite a while…falconry (or hawk flying)! this past weekend, i checked off another super fun activity that i totally didn’t expect to be doing…riding a hot air balloon!

you can tell i wasn’t prepared for this, as i was wearing a bathing suit tunic/coverup…not *quite* right for cruising at 2500 feet in the air…hahaha! so, quick recap. i attended my husband’s family reunion that they’ve held annually for at least the past 10 years. they have all kinds of fun activities…swimming, golf cart riding, fireworks & the hot air balloons have been a recent addition in past years. they usually plan the rides the day before my husband & arrive for the weekend, so we’ve always missed it. *however* due to a scheduling glitch, the balloons were rescheduled for the next day & when my husband’s uncle asked if we wanted in (literally), we were like HECK YEAH! OMG…it was so much fun, well eventually. the liftoff freaked me out, but once we got to a cruising altitude, it was actually very relaxing, peaceful & amazing to see the land & people at that height! other family members were scattered amongst 3 balloons & i was very glad we got a veteran “pilot.” after about an hour ride, he set us down very gently in a huge empty cornfield & i was much more relaxed during the landing than takeoff, hahaha! it was an amazing experience & one i will not forget!
