Sending out an S.O.S. to all parties concerned! We are currently forming a network agency within D.O.C. We are asking all prisoners within the Department of Corrections to take a stand by laying down starting January 15, 2018, until the injustice we see facing prisoners within the Florida system is resolved. We are calling on all organized groups as well as religious systems to come together on the same page. We will be taking a stand for: 1. Payment for our labor, rather than the current slave arrangement 2. Ending outrageous canteen prices 3. Reintroducing parole incentives to lifers and those with Buck Rogers dates Along with these primary demands, we are also expressing our support for the following goals: • Stop the overcrowding and acts of brutality committed by officers throughout FDOC which have resulted in the highest death rates in prison history. • Expose the environmental conditions we face, including extreme temperatures, mold, contaminated water, and being placed next to toxic sites such as landfills, military bases and phosphate mines (including a proposed mine which would surround the Reception and Medical Center prison in Lake Butler). • Honor the moratorium on state executions, as a court-ordered the state to do, without the legal loophole now being used to kill prisoners on death row. • Restore voting rights as a basic human right to all, not a privilege, regardless of criminal convictions. Operation PUSH Every Institution must prepare to lay down for at least one month or longer: No prisoners will go to their job assignments. Our goal is to make the Governor realize that it will cost the state of Florida millions of dollars daily to contract outside companies to come and cook, clean, and handle the maintenance. This will cause a total BREAK DOWN. In order to become very effective we must use everything we have to show that we mean business. This is our chance to establish UNITY and SOLIDARITY. This is the strategy of Operation PUSH! A voice locked up is not a voice unheard!

Ready for Revolution: George Jackson and the Attica Uprising

Black Lives Matter Portland and All African People's Revolutionary Party - Oregon present a political education event for the September 9th National Prisoner Strike. Join us to discuss the life and work of revolutionary Black Panther George Jackson, the Attica Prison Uprising of September 9, 1971 and the conditions that led to it, and the history and present state of the prison resistance movement. We'll also talk about how you can get involved with Portland's organizing in support of the National Prisoner Strike. This event is FREE and open to all.

This event is organized in in solidarity with PDX March to End Prison Slavery: September 9th and National Prison Strike September 2016 About George Jackson George Jackson was 18 years old when he was sentenced to a year in prison for stealing $70 from a gas station. Shortly after the start of his prison term, Jackson met and began to organize with African political prisoners. Together, they helped form a revolutionary organization, the Black Guerrilla Family, and Jackson would go on to join the Black Panther Party. 

His punishment for daring to struggle for African liberation was the indefinite extension of his prison term without trial. George Jackson would spend 10 more years in prison on a 1 year sentence, 7 of them in solitary confinement. While held captive for a decade, Jackson dedicated himself to the liberation of African people and all colonized peoples, organizing tirelessly to build the consciousness and power of prisoners across the country. 

At age 29, George Jackson was executed by a prison guard in San Quentin State Prison - shot in the back while standing in the yard. Two days after his murder, one thousand prisoners rose up in rebellion and seized control of one of the nation's most brutal and inhumane prison facilities - Attica prison. Their demand was to be treated as human beings. About the National Prisoner Strike On September 9th, 1971 prisoners took over and shut down Attica, New York State’s most notoriously cruel prison. On September 9th of 2016, prisoners in the US who have been forced into slavery by corrupt politicians and greedy corporations will begin a strike to shut down prisons and detention centers across the country. Prisoners will not only demand an end to prison slavery, they will end it themselves by ceasing to be slaves. This is a call to action to end slavery in America. ...prisons are extensions of patriarchal control. Male prisons are hyper-macho environments with very hierarchical structures and class divisions. In the prisons, queer prisoners have taken on a submissive and passive persona, because they themselves are not immune to all the psychological bullshit that society teaches about gender, sex, and class, and how that gender should be lived – you know, ‘females are weak and only to use and control.’ The queer prisoner is on the bottom of the social ladder, just above snitches. The life of the queer prisoner is one of gross disrespect, violence, and oppression, from prisoners and pigs alike. Most prisoners look at being queer as an abomination, as something nasty and weak. But on March 11, 2016, that narrative was shattered after queer prisoners went on the offensive against the pigs. One queer prisoner went from dorm to dorm inviting, exhorting, and encouraging prisoners to come out of their cells and join in tearing the prison down. One dorm refused and placed a lock and chain on their dorm’s cell door, successfully locking themselves in and everyone else out. The queer prisoner started calling these guys on this and called them pigs, Uncle Tom, etc. all while brandishing a knife. And this is not the only instance of queer resistance against the pigs: - In 2012, a stabbing of a guard in the segregation unit at Holman was taking place while showers were being done, and a queer prisoner, Fredricka’s, cell door hadn’t closed and she ran out the cell, down the stairs and into the control unit. She kicked the pig down who was in the control unit, handcuffed him and opened some of the segregation cell doors, allowing other prisoners to come out their cell and attack the police. - Also in 2012 at Holman prison, queer prisoners formed the “Gay Militia” as a prison gang for the protection of themselves against homophobes. - At Donaldson prison in Alabama, queer prisoners formed F.A.G. as a self-defense organization. - In 2015 at Holman prison, a queer prisoner set fire to a guard in the segregation unit. The history of queer resistance is long and beautiful. It didn’t start with Stonewall.

Isn’t it odd that Christendom — ​that huge body of humankind that claims spiritual descent from the Jewish carpenter of Nazareth — ​claims to pray to and adore a being who was a prisoner of Roman power, an inmate of the empire’s death row? That the one it considers the personification of the Creator of the Universe was tortured, humiliated, beaten, and crucified on a barren scrap of land on the imperial periphery, at Golgotha, the place of the skull? That the majority of its adherents strenuously support the state’s execution of thousands of imprisoned citizens? That the overwhelming majority of its judges, prosecutors, and lawyers — ​those who condemn, prosecute, and sell out the condemned — ​claim to be followers of the fettered, spat-upon, naked God?
