Shiv’s & Shanks: Part One

Ive had an interest in improvised weapons for some time, but just as importantly the resulting trauma from their use. This is why they prove so effective in use and adaptable from a host of materials. In researching the ingenuity found in correctional institutions I got to thinking what could be possible if you had a simple workshop and tools. Not to suggest a fully made ‘Production Grade Prison Shiv’, merely what could be made if the conditions were slightly better, and using normal knife making materials with basic garage tools not a well furnished workshop.

So, I wanted to also throw it open to other people, see if they wanted to join in and have a go at making one also. See what you can do! If you want to join in, make a shiv/shank and send us some pics and we will post them.

On the last day of school before we got off for Christmas, my friend gave me a small bag of different little presents and one of them was a candy cane. I started to eat the candy cane in French class because we were watching a movie and then I realised that I had made the end really sharp so, as anyone would, I stabbed the guy sitting in front of me in the neck with it. We never liked each other anyway.

There are only two ways to eat a candy cane. You either crunch it like a dragon after a virgin or suck until it's a prison shank.
