Something a little different

I've used the coldsteel C clips before and they work just fine. They do have a habit of chewing up belts and taking them on or off can be more difficult than expected.

So I modified them to work better and I was asked to share this for others.

Usually to fit the clips to a sheath you mount the screws through the clip and the backing stud through the sheath holes. Adding spacers for offset or stand off. This leaves the screw heads inside against your belt and with some sheaths one screw tight to where the belt slides in. You could take your belt off and feed it through, but really it's not practical in all situations.

I used a drill 'saw bit' to open the slot out a fraction allowing the stud to fit into the C clip, then adding a washer to complete the stand off. It compresses nicely and stays retained.

You simply screw from the front and it gives plenty of space to fit a belt behind and allow adjustment.

I personally think this is the way they should have been made to begin with as it works better. Even on the smaller knives like the Kyoto, the large C clip fits and works perfectly.

This isn't offered to degrade anyone's work or product, it's what we have found works better with those clips. For the price it's a good, reliable product but it can be made to work better which is why we are sharing this.

Bag or Blanket?

We get asked this a lot, survival bag, or survival blanket?

The simple answer is either of them. Having the item is most important

For individuals, especially those alone a bag is best. It retains more body heat and insulates you from the ground, as well as air keeping you warmer and preventing exposure and hypothermia.

For vehicle carry, the elderly or small children or those who prefer a more adaptable method then the blanket is the one to go for. Wrapping up the young or old helps keep them warmer as well as sitting them between other people for added warmth. Especially in a vehicle, a natural shelter.

A blanket can also be used as a reflective roof in make shift shelters to reflect heat back onto you

We supply both, vacuum packed with the option for a marker to be added.

If you can't put your little finger and thumb together to make the old Indian sign, you are already in a situation that needs attention.

Once warm you can make a fire and improve the situation further, catching the early signs is critical in surviving.

We have now expanded the Titanium EOD Breacher Bar accessories to include the Titanium pommel once again and the slip on handle if you just prefer something simpler.

You just slide it on and it grips the holes in the bar so it won't come off. Available in OD Green it's an easy solution for those who prefer a more rugged handle without using paracord.

For those that like a little more the pommel keeps a nice neat end of the handle. Tighten the grub screws and add a dab of thread lock or superglue to keep them in place. Wrap the handle and it's ready for business.

How to beat the heat!

Sweat Rag Time

Heatstroke, or sunstroke is definitely one of those easily preventable afflictions with some preparation.

As well as hydration keeping yourself cool is one of the key factors, especially your head. So another use of the Sweat Rag is an active cooling wrap. Lay the wet sweat rag out and fold lengthways in half, then in half again. Wet with cold water again and tie it around your neck. As it evaporates it cools the arteries going to your head and helps keep your body temperature lower. It's certainly more comfortable and you can rewet it as needed.

For the younger warriors of your family wet the sweat rag and open it to cover their head and shoulders to keep more of them cool. You can put a hat on over it to keep the sun off too.

Covert Commercial Door Hooks

Not everyone knows about this great tools usefulness. So we are here to explain. Commercial doors, many patio style doors and glass shop doors have a weak lock mechanism.

In short, the added security features push a locking bar up into a recess to halt shimming style approaches.

This locking bar just needs to be pulled down to open the entire lock. So these tools, one of each for left and right side locks, lay flat against the locking bar, and slide back into the lock until it touches the back plate. You move it up until it touches the bar and rotate to get the hook on it. Then pull down. This opens the lock and bypasses all of the added security.

Its a one to two second action for instant access. Not just shops, malls and similar properties, but also some patio style doors. If you need access, this is how to get it without damage.

EOD Breacher Bar Cord Wrap How Too

This is not the only way to do it, but we do it this way as its neat and durable. Start with the under side threaded through and just touching the free end of the cord. You need to tape those ends down if you are not an octopus to keep everything in place. It just makes it easier on yourself. Then thread the cord down the offset hole and turn it over.

You can now start the actual wrap by going along the longest side and around. Once you get back all the way around to that start point you can jiggle the cord so it's neat and then keep on going. Turn the bar in your hand not the cord so it won't twist up. Keep going until you get to the top hole.

At the top, go down through the hole and pull all the cord through so it's straight. Come back around the opposite side and down through the hole again. It creates a figure of eight using the hole. The cord starts to self tension up holding in place easier. Now you need to make one more loop around the same side you started but getting through that hole may be tight so use needle nose pliers to push the end through. Don't pull it tight just yet check all the cord lies flat, it's neat and how you want it. Then you can pull everything tight to lock it in place. You could add some superglue to hold the ends in the cavity neatly before trimming the end and melting it to prevent fraying.

Its a fun practical job for a cold winters evening and helps grip.
