The Solitary Confinement
Well, remember when I mentioned that inmate2398 and I had some contraband? Well, the officers found everything we were hiding, and my cellmate and I were thrown in solitary confinement for a long time, which is why I didn't say anything else.
But anyway, now that I have a new smuggled cell phone, I can tell you more about prison, and this time the topic will be solitary confinement (also known as the hole by some).
The solitary cell I was in was simple, with a hard bed and a metal toilet. There were no windows, and this time I had a door without windows instead of bars. For a while, I thought this was good because I would have privacy, but I soon realized that it was terrible because it left me in complete isolation. Another detail is that there wasn't much light inside the cell.
As time went by, I practically went crazy being isolated 24 hours a day. I started counting the time by the three meals I received each day. In fact, the meals were one of the worst parts, because I had to eat slop, also known as nutraloaf. At least I had minimal contact with the person delivering the tray.
In short, my time in solitary was boring. I never want to go back there, even though I am again hiding contraband items like this cell phone I am using.
Transport Restraint
Well, as the first post of the year I'd like to tell you about our first days in 2025, they weren't that exciting, nothing but waking up, eating, talking, looking for ways to break the boredom, eating that shitty food again and sleeping, the same boring schedule as always, so I had to be a little creative to find some interesting features in the prison I live in. As we're in maximum security, whenever me and inmate2398 need to leave our cellblock, from leaving the prison to collect trash from the street in a chain gang to going to the infirmary inside the prison, we're restrained, honestly I find it all very exaggerated, it's not like we'd be able to escape so easily with so many officers, walls and doors inside the prison, the officers are always very harsh with us even if we behave, in our case today we were going to collect trash on the highway together with other inmates, which will probably not be very pleasant due to the little freedom of movement, the heat, the sweat and the humiliation we will go through. Maybe you're wondering why inmate2398 and I are smiling in this pic, well, as tiring and humiliating as working in a chain gang can be, it's one of the few opportunities to see the world outside prison walls… and also because we don't usually get much of a chance to take any photos other than an updated mugshot.
Death Row
Since today is Halloween, I thought I'd tell you about a nightmare I had recently, where I was on death row with inmate 2398, and there was little time left before we were to be executed.
After waiting for 20 minutes, they took us to separate execution chambers, then the officers strapped us in, read our sentences, and allowed us to say our last words. In my case, I just tried to beg them not to execute me, they put a hood over my head, and then all I could do was wait for them to pull the lever.
The last moments were simply terrifying, honestly, I could do nothing but wait for my death, but when I heard the lever being pulled, I felt the electricity passing through my body, causing the greatest pain I had ever felt in my life, as if I were burning.
I woke up gasping for breath after that, but soon I calmed down and realized it was just a nightmare, so I tried to go back to sleep, although I wasn't very successful at it, since I was really terrified of the idea of being executed, but at least I think I can be a little grateful for receiving a life sentence without parole instead of death by electrocution or any other means of execution.
Another Christmas and New Year in prison
As you can see in this photo, this year we were allowed to decorate our cell block with Christmas decorations. Obviously, all the decorations are of poor quality and cheap, but at least it gave me and inmate 2398 the opportunity to have some fun and chat a little.
Otherwise, it was the same as last year, which is to say, it was boring because, thanks to the lack of staff, my cellmate and I spent basically the entire day locked in our cell, without even the possibility of seeing any fireworks because we are miles away from any civilization, but I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Search
Every morning before going to the canteen the officers search our cell, while they do this we are forced to stand facing the wall and with our hands cuffed behind our backs, they search everything, the sheet, the blanket, pillow, mattress, toilet and anything else they believe we might be hiding something illegal in.
Maybe you're wondering something like “what do they think is illegal?”, well, I can answer that, any weapon, drug or personal item other than a toothbrush and toothpaste, mattress, sheet, blanket, pillow, toilet paper and medicine, can be considered illegal, so even if it's something harmless like a photo or a pencil they can confiscate it, if it's nothing serious there's a small chance they'll just give us a warning, but most of the time they send us straight to the hole.
After searching the cell they search us, this is one of the most humiliating parts of prison life, because we have to let them touch us while we can't do anything about it, it's a real nuisance, they grope our arms, breasts, belly, legs, the officers check if we're hiding anything in our mouths, all we can do is hope it's over quickly, we always have to be careful about what we do, because if they suspect something the officers can do a cavity search, which makes it all the more humiliating and embarrassing, even if it's not so frequent unfortunately the cavity search still happens at least once a month supposedly for “security reasons”, I honestly don't want to talk too much about that part. . at least not now.
Well, anyway, me and Inmate2398 got cigarettes, a bar of chocolate and playing cards smuggled in by the inmates of cell 12, maybe you think we're idiots for taking such a risk, but think about it from our side, we live so bored in our cells that we just wanted a bit of entertainment, something that could make our days a little different and more bearable, even if only temporarily. For the time being everything is okay, we've hidden everything where we believe the officers will never find it ( of course I won't tell anyone where I've hidden it around here), in a little while another one of these searches will take place and I hope they don't find anything.
