Why do people on this site get so touchy about defending christianity? It kinda seems like a double standard....
You hating on white people? Naw, thats cool, hate sucks (it really does) but privilege is wack and they should learn to check it, who can blame you? You're repressed! They're only made uncomfortable, your whole life is affected! Sass on!
You hating on Christians? HOW FUCKING DARE YOU DISRESPECT THEIR BELIEFS they only wiped out almost every non abrihamic religion they ever came into contact with and forced themselves upon every culture ever because JESUS. ESP PAGANS. SHUT UP PAGANS, THEY DIDNT STEAL YO SHIT, GOD.
83% of america is christian (meaning the rest of us are minorities, religiously) and you may have to deal with the religion that effectively wiped your religion and maybe whole culture out on a day to day basis and see their monuments in your non religious government structures and their prayers in your non biased schools, but what the fuck back off the poor folks! You be making them uncomfortable! Don't 'appropriate' their shit! They're, erm, ..... small! And peaceful! And.... you could stomp out their undefended and vulnerable minority culture! REASONS!
My sass had it's way with me, sorry.
I think hatred is never called for, by the way, and i'm not trying to necessarily validate either of these arguments.... it just seems like a really weird double standard that I've seen on my dash lately. Like.... isn't religious privilege a thing? If people can validate getting uppity on white people for being appropriative, repressing and destroying cultures..... * and at the very least being ignorant of the problem, why does no one ever bring up christianity and its role in said problems? Or point out christian privilege? Is there something i'm missing here?
*(and by uppity and mean that whole bunches of folks quite rightly go about passionately, and with as much kindness as they can muster I would imagine, educating people about our racial inequality problems and solutions.)
** as an aside, I realize that race and religion are complicated comparisons to make, seeing as one is much more permanent than the other. With this in mind, I hope my analogy makes sense.
