As a Cas Stan, I get annoyed when people blame Cas for everything about the angels being almost wiped out!

Yes, he wiped out a lot of them when he had the purgatory souls inside of him, but he wasn't himself!

People will say that any bad thing that Dean did during the MoC arc was "just the Mark, not Dean", but they blame Cas for everything he did while he had the souls inside of him, and it's not right!

also, he wasn't the only one to wipe out angels:

I already addressed the Godstiel thing, so I'm not gonna mention it again

the Fall - that was on Metatron, not Cas.  Cas thought he was helping the angels, and Metatron lied to him and tricked him!

and Cas wasn't the only angel who killed other angels; there were lots of factions of angels that killed each other over the course of the show

and of course some angels were killed by Lucifer, demons, and other beings

and you can't forget Hunters!  The Hunters killed angels left, right, and center!  And after they killed those angels, they stole their angel blades from their corpses and used them to kill more angels!  You can't talk about "the angels being wiped out" and not mention Hunters!

I think the reason that, while I’m not a fan of SPN Angels/Demons siding with Earth/Humanity over Heaven/Hell, but am cool with it in Good Omens, is because of how it is treated, how the Humans they ally with are, and what they do after preventing their respective Apocalypses:

SPN Angels/Demons that side with Humanity and Earth over Heaven and Hell: Become genocidal serial killers in the name of "protecting humanity" and/or ally with people who are genocidal serial killers in the name of "protecting humanity"

Good Omens Angels/Demons that side with Humanity and Earth over Heaven and Hell: Quit their jobs, move to Earth to live with humanity, and, if necessary, fight Heaven and Hell to defend Humanity, but nowhere in there do they commit genocide on all Angels/Demons/Other Supernaturals, nor are the Humans they ally with genocidal serial killers who are painted as "good guys" and "heroes"

I've been thinking about the names for the different non-human species in SPN lately, and I've been wondering about where the names came from in-universe.

How many of them are actually what the members of the species originally called themselves, and how many were adopted by the species in question after being called those names by the humans for centuries?

How many of the names in the folklore, mythology, and lore books were made up by the human authors of those books, and how many were told to the human authors by the species in question?

And how many of them aren't actually used by the non-humans at all, and are just insults and slurs made up by the humans/Hunters because they don't care to find out what they actually call themselves, and in the case of the Hunters, to further dehumanize and degrade and other the ones they hunt?
