The "monsters" in SPN are still living sentient intelligent beings, not "things" or "mindless animals" or "inherently evil creatures", and the Hunters should just admit that they're murderers instead of trying to "excuse" what they do by convincing themselves and others that their victims "aren't really people" just because of their species

I will admit that evil monsters shouldn't be allowed to just kill innocent humans and should be stopped from doing so,

but a group of prejudiced asshole humans with guns and weapons and materials designed to hurt and kill non-humans, going around brutally killing anyone who isn't human, especially the ones that have killed a human for any reason(even in self-defense, accidentally, because they were starving and couldn't control themselves, or because someone was manipulating/coercing/controlling them(though sometimes they'll show mercy to the latter)),

and who see the people they kill as just "things", and see their job as "saving people" and not murder, and think that they have the right to do what they do just because they have weapons and a supernatural hurt them in the past,

and who, because of their actions, forces everyone who isn't a "normal human" to live in constant fear of violent painful death for their whole lives

Is not the way to "police" or "deal with" or "stop" or "punish" or "control" or "keep in check" the evil monsters who kill innocent humans!

Honestly, the way Dean(and most Hunters in general) treat non-humans is FUCKED UP AS HELL.

They basically group everyone(both human and not) into two categories: "People" and "Things".

All humans are in the "people" category, unless they become non-human, have powers, or do something evil enough to knock them out of that category.

All non-humans, part-humans, and powered-humans are in the "things" category, unless they "earn" being in the "people" category; a privilege that can be taken away at any time, for any reason.

And once the privilege of being "people" is taken away, anyone in the "things" category is killed without mercy, compassion, or remorse, no matter how much they were "friends" with the Hunter in question back when they were "people".

I've been thinking about the names for the different non-human species in SPN lately, and I've been wondering about where the names came from in-universe.

How many of them are actually what the members of the species originally called themselves, and how many were adopted by the species in question after being called those names by the humans for centuries?

How many of the names in the folklore, mythology, and lore books were made up by the human authors of those books, and how many were told to the human authors by the species in question?

And how many of them aren't actually used by the non-humans at all, and are just insults and slurs made up by the humans/Hunters because they don't care to find out what they actually call themselves, and in the case of the Hunters, to further dehumanize and degrade and other the ones they hunt?

In my opinion, there is a difference between justified revenge (eg. someone shooting the person who r-ped their child, or Bayek killing the assholes who murdered his son in Assassin’s Creed: Origins) and unjustifiable murdering of a whole race/species in the name of “revenge” because one member of that race/species killed someone you loved (eg. how John Winchester, Dean Winchester, and nearly every other Hunter in SPN goes around brutally murdering everyone who isn’t human just because one supernatural killed one of their loved ones)

Ugh, I am so tired of how both the show and the fandom paints Hunting as something "noble" and "selfless" and "heroic"! It is literally hate crimes, brutal murder, and serial killing! If the Hunters went after any group of humans the way they do supernaturals, they'd be vilified and crucified by the fandom and seen as villains and prejudiced genocidal freaks!

It is MAJORLY fucked-up to me, and pisses me off, how in both the SPN fandom and the canon show, monsters/non-humans/part-humans/supernatural-humans basically have to “earn” the right to not be killed, and the right to be treated somewhat like people, by doing one of the following: Liking Hunters

Allying with Hunters Befriending a Hunter, seeing them as “family”, or otherwise having a platonic relationship with a Hunter Dating, marrying, or otherwise being in a romantic and/or sexual relationship with a Hunter

Working with, researching for, giving advice to, healing/patching up, or otherwise helping Hunters with their “work”

Owning/running a bar, library, medical clinic, or other “shelter”, “hangout” or “safe place” for Hunters

Being a Hunter themselves and going around slaughtering their own kind

Being raised by Hunters and/or having Hunter parents, especially if they go into the “family business” once they grow up

Or otherwise being affiliated with the Hunters’ and/or on their side in some way.

I just think the idea of someone having to “earn” being treated like a person is fucked up! And the fact that the thing the monsters have to do to “earn” that is siding with/befriending/helping the ones that oppress and kill their kind makes it a whole nother level of fucked up!
