JJ isn't straight!

In episode 1 of season 1, John B describes JJ as a ladies' man, heartthrob, and basically down bad for any girl that has a heartbeat lol. Yet besides Kie (in episodes 9&10 of S3) and the one random girl he was in bed with (in episode 1 of S1)...he hasn't been with any female sexually or romantically in ALL 3 seasons of OBX. He has spent more time with Pope than any female in outer banks (including the female pogues.) So why is it assumed that JJ is straight? He has literally gotten more action with Pope than Kie. His sexuality was never confirmed straight, just as it was never confirmed gay or bi and etc. (THIS ALSO STANDS FOR OTHER CHARACTERS). It would be such a good character arc for JJ to realize the feelings he thought he had for Kie was just confused jealousy. He wasn't jealous because he wanted her but because he wanted to be her. (aka be in a relationship with Pope) But he thinks he's just confused and tries his hardest to love Kie, but it isn't working. He loves Kie but not in that way (just like Kie thought she loved Pope in that way). Especially the household he grew up in definitely gives off homophobic vibes from his father, which could have caused JJ to not even dare to even think of opening his horizons in his sexuality. He was locked in the closet that he didn't even know he was hiding in. Sleeping with girls here and there with no feelings attached is nothing. But actually, getting into a serious romantic relationship with Kie made him realize that this wasn't what he thought he wanted. She isn't who he thought he wanted. This storyline could benefit not only the characters, their relationships, the show's representation, the relatability of these characters, and so much more! Remember people, straight is not the default!
