Because Katara offered Aang belonging in a world he wasn’t from when he had nothing, and with her he will never truly be alone

Hmm…there’s something to be said about the fact that the person who’s known Katara the longest (her brother Sokka) teases Katara about guys she has confirmed interest in (Jet, Aang) while people who don’t know her at all (EIP, June) think she’s involved with Zuko (and only make that assumption without ever seeing her interact with Aang).
