Hate it when certain people that are pro Kishimoto/pro whatever the story is trying to tell are using it to spew anti Uchiha bs, when the narrative itself goes out of its way to disprove or provide an extended explanation for the Uchiha that paints them in a more nuanced light.
The Uchihas were planning a coup, yes, but it was a tragedy that was locked in by Danzou's bs--HE is painted as the primary culprit here apart from Obito. And several people, including MINATO and Hiruzen himself, explicitly expressed regret or thought that it could've been avoided. It was even mentioned as a darkness within the village.
That isn't even mentioning how the leaders of the coup within the clan itself, Fugaku and Mikoto, were treated with dignity in their deathbeds instead of being painted as...well, otherwise.
The clan was manipulated by the same entity that manipulated a good chunk of Shinobi history to do his bidding since its inception. Maybe this gives credence to anti Uchiha narrative in their eyes, but if anything else, that makes them victims for me.
The pain and suffering the Uchihas went through was validated; the hurt that Obito, Sasuke, and to an extent Madara faced, and the discrimination of the Uchiha by the higher ups was seen and treated as significant tragedies. The story didn't--at least SOLELY--paint them as being self-centered for being broken by their trauma.
As an example, heroic characters like Hashirama and Naruto both express sympathy for the clan and are unfailingly attached to certain Uchihas. And the narrative doesn't really treat it as something they should get over--yes, certain characters may reprimand them within the story, but the story ITSELF treats it as genuine devotion (Naruto) and/or healthy respect (Hashirama). Hashirama mentioned how Madara loved his brothers above anything else and Naruto outright said that he UNDERSTOOD where Sasuke was coming from in wanting to destroy the village.
They are mentioned as the clan that loves like no other. No other clan loved as deeply as the Uchihas. The "Curse of Hatred" MAY be a truth, but the deep hate came from deep grief which spawned from DEEP LOVE. Imagine trying to criticize the clan by using the story when the story itself outright mentioned them as being THE most loving people in the story and that that love is what drove them to extremes. In the same series that put emphasis on the treasure of bonds and love.
While most major Uchiha characters have succumbed to this "Curse of Hatred", they are shown to not immediately be a lost cause no matter the increasing severity of their crimes. They are either redeemed (Obito, Sasuke) or admit to their wrongs in their deathbed and peacefully pass away (Madara) . They also have closure with the people close to them--Sasuke to Itachi, Obito to Rin, Madara to Hashirama. This goes back to what I mentioned beforehand, their pain is validated by the story. And as an extension to that, their ideologies and perceptions about the world are not treated as being completely incorrect--a lot of fans would certainly agree, even if the methods they went about it are. Yes, they are the treated as the wrong party, but they are also treated as a wronged party.
And then they cherry pick panels that somehow "support" THEIR narrative and say they're looking at it from an objective point in the story lmao. And then they pull a 180 when talking about the non-Uchiha villains lol.
And then they're almost all Tobirama fans :| I don't hate Tobirama but why the fuck is it always his stans; "he's not racist!" and then they proceed to say anti Uchiha stuff to DEFEND him----what is it? Is he racist or not? Is he racist and you agree with his SUPPOSED racism or not?
oh so HE isn't but you are? Got it.
P.S. Not to say that the series is perfect in its portrayals, because it does have some flaws regardless. But I wanted to give my take.
