I liked jumping spiders in 2003 when they were not popular and my only source for videos of them was scientists' documentation of their courtship dances. So now that more people think they're cute and call them octokittens and raise Daring and Regal jumping spiders I'd just like to say HOORAY I LOVE YOU ALL I can have so many more cute desk toys than in 2003

I’m wildly grateful to have been brought up by parents who put aside their own fears and discomfort to teach my brother and I compassion for all living things.

Guys... love your spiders, ok? Or at least if you can’t stand them have some empathy and take them outside with a glass and some spam mail. I don’t need to know you to know you have those things sitting around ready to go. I promise you that they’re useful in the outdoors and they’re not inherently mean. They don’t *try* to come into your house, but if they end up there, they’re trying to make the best of the situation and you can help them make their lives better by placing them where they belong - in your yard. Their world is much bigger than ours, and they’ll only bite you if they feel like their life is in danger. Wouldn’t you do what you have to in order to survive?
