Some facts about the Laurens-Lee duel!

All sourced from Hamilton and Edward’s’ account of the duel as found on the US national archives

1. I’ve seen people say that laurens and Hamilton were late for the duel, but according to Hamilton they were perfectly on time!

2. The duel was at 3:30 pm on a Wednesday.

3. Unlike shown in the song “ten duel commandments” Laurens and Lee only walked six paces before shooting.

4. Laurens, believing that Lee’s wound was more severe than it was, immediately moved to help Lee after he declared himself injured (I’m sure that he was clearly injured, though that’s just how it’s worded in the archive).

5. Both Laurens and Lee wanted to shoot a second time, Hamilton was hesitant about this, and Lee’s second Edwards advised against it, and they did not shoot a second time.
