Question:
Does anyone else on the autism spectrum have trouble comforting people when they're upset?
I mean, specifically when they say really self-deprecating things like 'this is all my fault!' or 'i should have never done x'? Like...do you kind of think to yourself 'yeah it is actually and you should have known better given how many people told you it was a shit idea' when they say things like that based on the evidence? Maybe even have a hard time not saying that to them so you just keep quiet instead of saying things that lift them up instead?
I guess what I'm asking is does it feel dishonest or pointless to you to lift them up even when they're clearly upset or am I just an asshole? Also, how do you deal with it better?
I live in jerusalem and i can confirm my street has at least 30 cats, i counted
right tho like there are so MANY and they’re just EVERYWHERE and i fucking love it ... makes u wonder if there were as many in ancient times too tbh

In all seriousness, Vex had seen - and stayed at- far worse places. Hell, the fact that it had a roof at all made it better than most of the places she and Vax had stayed at after leaving Syngorn. But Percy had perhaps overplayed the lavishness and the charm of the vacation home. Staying there would require at least a week’s worth of work, perhaps more depending on what the state of the interior was. Not quite her idea of a vacation.
Still, Vex knew how much it meant to Percy, and she wanted to help him reclaim those memories that the Briarwoods had soiled for so many years. She followed her husband’s gaze, tilting her head as she tried to picture how it could look once it was all done up. He was right about one thing: Trinket would love the location. And she did miss being so close to nature.
“We’ll need to clean it up. Do some repairs,” she finally responded after a long pause. “But I think it’s wonderful, darling.” A warm smile formed as she grabbed Percy’s hand to give it a squeeze.
