When I was in grade school, I learned about the term "pouring (rain)" which means: raining heavily or a heavy downpour.
But to this day, my brain still registers it as just: drizzle/light rain. When I read it from any text, my mind immediately imagines it's that harmless weather of just a shower outside. I don't know why my brain does that. I reckon it's probably because the word "pour" sounds cute to me and my brain feels like it shouldn't be associated with something as aggressive and forceful as torrential rain.
It's pouring outside tonight.
