Dareon Steelsong was raised on the streets of many towns, living life on his own. Mostly alone and underfoot, he’d sleep where he could, eat when he could and work what he could and stole when he couldn’t. He spent most his free time in youth either running from the bigger and older children who wanted to beat him up and take what he had, or lurking around taverns and listening to travelling musicians and storytellers, imagining himself as one of the great heroes of the past or a potentially great hero of the future, at least until he was chased off by proprietors who didn’t want dirty little Miqo’te children hanging around their establishment.
As he grew, he chose his own name when he felt old enough, deciding on one he felt had a heroic ring to it, to give himself high ideals and aspirations to live up to. He constantly scurried around whatever township he found himself in, gathering whatever information he could find about any subject imaginable, seeking to learn all he could about any and everything.
His life on the streets was by no means great. He suffered many hardships and tragedies, experiencing great loss, heartache and betrayals. The experiences only served to temper his resolve, which brought about his determination to be a great singer and adventurer.
After many years of this, learning, growing and maturing, somewhat, he felt he was ready to set out for his own adventure finally and set his sights on Eorzea and the three City States within. He gathered what money he could to pay a caravan heading that way and set out for Gridania, hoping to make a name for himself as a scholar and musician of great renown.
