Parents: loving someone isn't about being loved back <- tells themself this through gritted teeth every morning. you can love someone and mourn who they are not at the same time. they're shaped by the absence of what their parents wanted them to be. if that makes sense.

the piper: obviously rarth is grateful to dimason, and will probably never stop feeling grateful that he took a chance on them and essentially gave them a chance at living. but there is a very, very, small part of them that resents him because sometimes they think about the perfect child they could've been if they had just oneeee more day to become that person (delusion)

juzath: their constant companion, a shadow that settles over everything they try and create for themself, they want her gone from their life but the thought of being abandoned makes them sick. just another person they're constantly disappointing.

1 Element of their backstory: after her kids became gods (traumatic for everyone), she went back to full time adventuring, initially out of a sense of guilt/responsibility for the havoc they were wreaking on the world, but she found that she had actually really missed it. it helped her to feel like she had a purpose again, outside of being a mother.

Gran narrowly avoided contracting lycanthropy in their 50s, and Never told Aedove or Yessika because they didn't want them to worry <3 (Sidenote i really love when characters start out as an expy and then just develop into a whole new motherfucker; Gran/Benny's first appearance as a minor npc in Jellyline 1 was based on peter parker lmao)
