Jumping Cube - Test Renders
Here I started off with making the cube wobble back and forth. I chose to start with this because my tutors showed me a cube moving like this in a class demonstration to start with.
I do like the way this looks however, I would like to do something different from this rather than just what my tutors showed In class. Due to this I would like to experiment with a different approach for this task. .
To start off with my new approach to the cube I wanted to make the cube squash a little as if it is getting ready to jump and then have it do a little wiggle to enhance the pre-jump action. to do this i used both the squash and stretch tool and the twist tool.
I think that this little jiggle looks good and how I wanted it to. I now just need to expand this animation further and get the cube to jump and land in some way.
In this test I worked on the jumping part of the animation. I Created a smooth arc where the cube rotates 180 degrees as it jumps over. I felt like having it flip like this would have a better look than not as i felt it would give the cube a better look and more appeal to the eye than just flat block-ish jump.
Once the cube landed I wanted it to rock back and forth to show that it was unstable, like it had landed wrong and lent to far so was trying to adjust its self to not fall over. This didn't turn out very well. It doesn't look very smooth and it dips in to the floor slightly, overall just looking bad.
Looking back at my previous attempts/renders I thought about the first try and how the cube moved using the bend tool. I think moving forward I can use this element to replace this awkward movement at the end but still get the look I was trying to go for.
Much like my ball animation i’m going to make some adjustments before uploading the final render.
