The Proclaimers pay tribute to Alex Salmond at the memorial service, Edi...
"With love and respect, and eternal gratitude....."
David Tennant performing his version of the Proclaimer's 'I'm gonna be (500 miles)' for the opening of the BAFTA Film Awards 2025, 16 February 2025.
Beautiful episode of Children in Need Got It Covered of the behind the scenes of the recording of the album that David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker, Olivia Colman etc sang on.
An absolutely beautiful moment where David gets emotional singing Sunshine on Leith and another sharing how he walked down the aisle to a Proclaimers song.

"I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" is a song written and performed by Scottish duo The Proclaimers, and first released as the lead single from their album Sunshine on Leith (1988), where it enjoyed some modest success in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Later in 1993, it was included as one of the main themes of the 1993 American romantic comedy film Benny & Joon starring Johnny Depp and Mary Stuart Masterson; subsequently, "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" powered onto the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for most of that year, eventually climbing as high as #3.
The song was mainly written by Craig Reid (with some help from his brother Charlie) in the summer of 1987 while waiting to travel to a Hibernian Football Club match in Aberdeen. The Reids have said that The Proclaimers earnings from the song are about five times the rest of their catalog combined.
“I'll tell you now that grown men cry,
Though fear and hurt and care,
Can lead me to despair.
I saw why I'm here
The morning you appeared.
I sat awhile on clouds,
To ask God if he's living.
I should have spent the time
On knees, in thanks for what He's given.”
