I honestly think that my favorite part of Japanfest yesterday, more than the lolita fashion show, or the Kendo demonstration, was the epic, free-for-all swordfight procrastichan and I got into with some Homestuck and Attack on Titan cosplayers.
Two Dirk Striders carrying an armload of fake swords just came up to the two of us (both in adorable, frilly dresses, mind you) and asked if we wanted to join their free-for-all. Naturally, we said yes, and the fighting began. It felt really cool to be wielding a sword and fighting someone in earnest! I feel like I did pretty well, if I do say so myself.
