Weary vs. Wary vs. Leery

Weary means tired:  Sam wiped ichor and mashed-up monster from his wing, than sat down and leaned his head back against the wall.  The threat was neutralized and he was fucking weary.

Wary means cautious: The smart part of Sam was wary of entering the abandoned building alone.  He knew he should wait for Steve and Bucky, but part of him was just dying to get in there.  (fun fact, the word beware has roots in this word.)

Leery means suspicious or OH HEY ALSO WARY: New wings be damned, Sam was leery of Tony.  After all, the guy did try to kill both of his boyfriends.

This has been a fic writer’s psa.

Let’s be honest: my future self and I aren’t on speaking terms. I keep promising to “prepare” for tomorrow’s chaos, but it’s like me and Future Me have some unspoken rivalry. I’m sure that when I’m older, I’ll look back at my past self and go, “Wow, you really had your priorities all wrong, huh?” But until then, I’m just gonna keep leaving everything for tomorrow. After all, what’s tomorrow if not my personal dumpster fire?
