Steve wasn’t going to let her off the hook this time - not without a damn good reason, and maybe not even then. He was great, but he was a stickler, even if it was just because he was worried. Her head ducked, suddenly embarrassed by her reasoning to be out and about. Especially with Steve looking down at her like she was ten years old again.
It wasn’t like she’d been out partying - clearly her costume told him that. She hadn’t been drinking or doing anything unseemly. But that wasn’t what he was focused on - it was the fact that she was out at all.
Dani winced, feeling guilty when he mentioned her father. “I didn’t know that.” She murmured, folding her arms across her chest in a defensive position. Still, they worried too much. She was an adult now - her dad didn’t need to go looking for her every time she disappeared from sight.
“I know it’s getting bad - and that’s why I was out! I want to help you guys.” Dani explained, though conceded with his point. “I can lift cars and bullets bounce right off of me, but at every sign of danger you all lock me in my room like I can’t handle it!”
