On a scale of one to ten, RWBY version of Tripitaka to go with Suns?
Would I want them? 15.
Do I think they could exist? 3.
(For reference, Tripitaka is Buddhist scrolls and teachings collected. Fascinating stuff.)
While I would love the idea of Sun studying this philosophy, or even a RWBY exclusive version of it, it’s difficult for me to justify Remnant having such a collection.
The Great War more or less wiped out much of the culture in both Atlas and Mistral. Yes, the central powers/elite of Mistral maintained their culture and arts, but I’m hesitant to believe they’d keep that much.
One of the big consistencies of Remnant is that while information is publicly available through the CCT, stories are referred to people through word of mouth. There’s no one unifed creation myth, only the one your parents teach you. There’s no shortage of fairy tales from the past, and no evidence which is fact and which is fiction. Hell, the people of Remnant don’t consider Aura “Magic,” because Aura is so omnipresent in their lives. (Which I like, actually. It’s not magic if you understand it.)
But that makes it harder to justify a RWBY version of Tripitaka. If anything, teachings like that may still be passed down, but orally rather than through scrolls... Physical or digital. And given the most likely birthplace of the Remnant Tripitaka would be Mistral, it’s entirely possible that such a collection, if physical, was burnt long ago to satisfy Atlas in their alliance.
Could still have Sun be a student of the teachings. Honestly, I’d love that concept. But it would likely need to be oral, rather than by scroll.
