hello antis. welcome to the scary corner of the internet(aka: proship community) so scary aaahhhh.. i'm here to educate antis on the meanings of certain terms often used in the proship community, and the definition of proship itself. so please stay for a while and listen!!

PROSHIP AND PROFIC

these are the main terms used in the community, because it's what the community is. the definition of proship, is to have a belief that people should have the freedom to ship whatever they want and not get harassed for it. the prefix "pro" means to be in favor of something or support something, so yes, proship means being in favor of and supporting shipping. very simple. also keep this in mind, profic is similar, but not the exact same thing as proship. profic is a belief that people can enjoy what fiction they want, even if the themes are dark or make you feel a bit icky inside. this definition applies to a lot more than shipping, moreso just fiction in general. a common misconception for the proship label is that "pro means support so proshippers ship anything and support all gross ships!" NOPE!!!!!! proship is simply a stance on fiction. and to add to that, nobody can "proship" anything, it was just a misconception built up by fandom puritans that are allergic to fun in fiction. proship is not a verb, so it doesn't make sense to call someone a "proshipper" or say that "this is a proship". those don't even make sense in the slightest.

DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT

in my experience, this confuses a lot of antis. dead dove is a fanfiction tag, which is used to warn readers about disturbing content that might trigger someone out there. using "do not eat" in it is a metaphor that means that the reader should be cautious while reading, because it is likely they could be traumatized or triggered by the content. that simple!

DARKSHIP AND COMSHIP

these are both umbrella terms to proship, but aren't really similar to proship. darkship is a word used to describe ships and ship dynamics that are taboo and illegal, the things you wouldn't want to see in real life. comship however, is a word used to describe ships and ship dynamics that are complicated(explaining the "com" used as a prefix). there is umbrella terms for comship, "light comship" and "dark comship". light comship is for the more lighter ships in the category, enemies to lovers or slight age gaps. dark comship, is for the more darker ships(or darkships) in the category, like incest and huge age gaps. darkships are all comships, so it's common for darkshippers to go both under the darkship and comship label. however, not all comships have to be darkships, so it is possible for someone to be a comshipper and not a darkshipper. no darkships are not and shouldn't be condoned in real life, and if it is, it has most likely turned into a paraphilia and that is when you actually need help.

PARAPHILIA

the term paraphilia is not related to any sorts of shipping, but paraphilias are often used in ship dynamics, so they are talked about topics inside of the proship and profic community. a paraphilia is a mental disorder that is characterized by intense sexual urges towards abnormal or unusual things. some paraphilias are harmful, and some are completely harmless. common harmful paraphilias include pedophilia, zoophilia, and necrophilia. being pro-para means that you are supportive of paraphilias in general(i don't know much about being pro-para, so if i'm wrong about the definition, could someone please explain in the replies? please and thank you). anti-c means being anti contact(not acting on)towards your paraphilia, mostly used for harmful paraphilias. neu-c means being neutral about contact and acting on your paraphilia, which i haven't seen much so i don't know any extra terms or definitions. being pro-c means that you support contact and acting on your paraphilia, which could be very dangerous if it's a harmful paraphilia, so please stay away from someone if that's the case.

YUMESHIP, SELFSHIP, ALL THINGS SIMILAR

these aren't related to proship or darkship, but are also talked about due to being a type of shipping. the term selfship is the act of shipping an OC with a canon character, or as everyone says, "oc x canon" if that makes it easier to understand. yumeship, a term derived from japanese fandom, is also the act of shipping an OC with a canon character, but yumeship is used more. when someone is yumeship, they are either "non-sharing", or "sharing". non-sharing, means that you don't want to share your F/O(fictional other), with doubles(people with the same F/O as you). sharing, means that you are okay with sharing your F/O with doubles. if someone is non-sharing, it is highly recommended to block or not interact to keep everyone comfortable. there may be times where someone who is non-sharing will be okay with interacting under certain circumstances, but it is rare in my experience. there is also another term that i've seen, "riako" be used in the yumeship community. riako means that someone views their yumeship as a real relationship and can even go as far to say that it counts as dating(not trying to be rude i am a riako myself..) and the term mostly falls under the fictosexual umbrella(fictosexual=the sexual and romantic attraction to fictional characters).

L0LICON, SH0TACON, AND K0D0CON

these terms are used to describe an individual who has an attraction to FICTIONAL characters that might look very young, or are very young. l0licon, is used for when that attraction goes to the small female characters. sh0tacon, is used for when that attraction goes to the small male characters. and k0d0con, is used for when that attraction goes to both of them. these terms are only used for fiction and fiction only, and when it goes outside of fiction(like saying "irl l0li" or "irl sh0ta", that is PEDOPHILIA. actual pedophilia, no way to get around or bypass it, that is genuine pedophilia, yes, even if you're a teenager calling yourself an IRL l0li or sh0ta.

based on my experiences of being in the profic and darkship community, here's the type of antis i've had to deal with on different sites or social medias(DISCLAIMER!!!! THIS COULD BE OUTDATED AND NOT ACCURATE. THIS IS FROM MY EXPERIENCE!!!!!)::::

tiktok: oh my fucking god they are BRUTAL. they will send death threats, r4pe threats, and tell you to kill yourself because of a little tiny ship that isn't hurting them. i saw very few nice ones(they were rare)

twitter: it's kinda hard to explain, they're in the middle of nice and not nice. i've seen alot of darkshippers get reported due to their ships, but there's a large community on twitter but the antis can be kind of mean from my experience. there's also a lot of 40 year old transphobic trump supporter men who can be VERYYY mean.

pinterest: i've seen a lot of nice antis on there(they tell me they "hope i recover" but the other side of it is insufferable 10 year old girls who say "Oh! That's not..." and they say that proshipping is disgusting... they learn a lot from the tiktok antis since i assume most of them are on tiktok

here!!! tumblr!!!!!!: there's a pretty large community on here so i've mostly gotten attention on my posts from fellow darkshippers.... but occasionally i get 1 or 2 maybe even 3 antis on my posts saying insults or wtv..... i dont pay attention to them though.............
