Does Dark Moon struggles with his gem after these years with it even after reconnecting with Luigi?

He doesn't really struggle with it nowadays, he's gotten a good grip on the gems power so he's been pretty good with it for a while.

Especially with Luigi's help stopping all the things that made them get the gem in the first place (my headcanon) -> The Boo's and Ghost's being captured and locked away by E.Gadd, and just attacked in general by others. Without all the anger from that fueling the gem it's been a cakewalk.

They only really struggled with it when they first got a hold of it and it started affecting them fully, had a really hard time controlling themself and their anger. Lashing out on everyone and becoming colder. It only became worse as time went on throughout the 3 Luigi's Mansion games.

The only way he'd struggle with it now is if he takes it off for a while, it gives him nasty power withdrawals. He's way too used to all the power the crown gives off so he's kindof stuck with it forever without it hurting him, so good thing Luigi and his brothers can help him out with it :3.

“How long did you know?”

He blinked, already rheumy eyes brimming with tears. His claw tightened against hers, and all she could focus on was how much weaker it was than a month ago, two months, last year. Was he truly that upset?

No.

She couldn’t brush it off any more.

Her husband was dying.

He’d waste away before her.

“I’m sorry, Herrah. I didn’t want you to worry after me so long, I-”

She dropped his claw, and it fell limp to his side. While he reached for her again she stepped away, hiding the shivers wracking her body with crossed arms and a resolute tilt to her chin.

It didn’t last long before she had to slip a claw under her mask, press between her middle and upper eyes to try and relieve the pounding in her head.

“You said you’d be fine.”

“Herrah, please, I didn’t want you to suffer!” His voice rasped more than it should have. Tears? Or something stealing his very breath? What did it matter any more?

“You’ve been lying all this time?” Her voice cracked, and she sunk to the cold wooden floor. The beams creaked, cold and solid and all too real in this utter nightmare. “You’ve been lying all this time, and you say you don’t want me to suffer?”

“My love, I-”

“I thought you trusted me in every way.”

So I finished reading "stag beetles and broken legs". I am very amused by how the last chapter ended. Was Lemm ribbing Quirrel at the end? I am a little confused (probably because it's been awhile since I read through the whole fic again.)

What are your particular headcanons about the game?

Hoo, boy. That’s… A lot. How about I give you some examples and you give me a particular area to talk about (like the various Gods, or Lifeblood, or Godhome, etc.)? Still pretty generalized but more specific than All The Things.

Also, before we get started, I’m gonna preface this with the disclaimer that some of this is going to be my actual Theory on what’s going on in Hollow Knight, and most of it is going to be Headcanons. In this instance, when I say something is a ‘headcanon’ versus a ‘theory’, that means that interpretation of X aspect of the game is open enough and/or has few enough existing details that I can fill in a decent chunk of the story. Additionally, I may have multiple headcanons for the same thing, depending on what I might want out of an RP or what ideas I share with a writing partner.

As an example, I have two different Headcanons about the origin of the God of Nightmares/Nightmare King Grimm. The first and simplest is that the God of Nightmares (Grimm’s predecessor/the original) and the Goddess of Dreams (The Radiance) are twin gods, born in balance. The second is that the God of Nightmares was born from a brief union of The Radiance and the original Lord of Shades (could be an attempted truce but The Radiance panicked, or she deliberately used it as an opportunity to shatter him, or whatever other variation sounds fun to the person or people writing it).

And, related to those headcanons, is my Theory - which is arguably fanon since I believe it’s a popular one? - that the Nightmare King was the source of the Fury of the Fallen charm. The Charm is shaped like flames, with eyes very similar to the color of Grimm’s, and the statue behind the chest where you find it is also very flamelike, with red eyes. It’s implied that this charm was created when the God of Nightmares was struck down by The Radiance in her paranoia and/or jealous rage.

Another related Headcanon: The Ritual is the result of the Nightmare’s determination to survive, even so diminished. The Nightmare Heart is damaged, seeping energy, and can’t repair itself without help, so the Grimm lineage has to feed it the flames of fallen kingdoms to keep the Scarlet Flame from burning out.

I have plenty of headcanons about the Grimm Troupe and related stuff, but that’s a helluva ramble and I get easily distracted. If you want to know more, just yeet another ask my way about it!
