I've actually been learning Python from her since December 2025 and it's been really fun. You can choose Java if you want or request any other lang (Although I'd say for total beginners, python helps)

Her methods focus on how to think programmatically, she gives tons of assignments to play with and is very receptive to questions no matter how silly they are. I'd been wanting to learn python for a long time and it took the discipline of having a real teacher to get me started.

Day 56: Programming Bootcamp

I love curating playlists, but I really love creating a bootcamp session or circuit class.

Here's my method.

Who's coming to class? Consider their goals, what will challenge them, what they like, what they don't like (mwah ha ha)

Size of class - more than 6 = a circuit. Fewer than 6 = we're all playing together

Location of class - porch, garage, or outside. Look at weather.

Timing of session - is this a standalone class? Or, is this a Friday class with Sat and Sun lined up for bootcamp as well? Will clients attend this class and the next day? This helps me consider the type of class - full body, upper, lower, barre bootcamp

Create 6-10 sets that follows the movement methodology - squat, lunge, hinge, push, pull, carry

Consider the style - tabata? 2 min? 1 min?

Consider cardio breaks - 1 min

Create the finisher - 1 min power move or a fun game

Create the playlist - song I can't get out of my head for the opening and (usually) a Taylor Swift cool down. I rely on Power Music for tabata timed songs.

Review the playlist/tempo and compare to the corresponding sets to see if they make sense

Write the movements on my white boards for the stations or one white board if we're doing the workout all together

Set-up the class

Do at least two rounds of the class before it starts to make sure I can share best practices for form

I'm trying to learn programming (python specifically atm) and I'm getting terribly frustrated because the classes to teach programming languages only ever seem to do is

1.) Walk you through dictionary definitions of the syntax

2.) Give you visual examples of only the piece of syntax you're going over

And then with just those two things expect you to write a program. They don't ever seem to give

* hands on examples

*tell you the steps of how to actually put a program together by yourself

And yes, I know individual research is important. Every damn programming teacher, either in person or on line has emphasized the importance of that. Multiple times.

But also that sort of teaching style will work with like one specific type of student?

Like my math teacher didn't read me a definition of what 2xy meant and then expect me to solve the equation of

2y + 3x = 103

They walked me through the steps of how to solve an equation like that. And you know what I can make up and equation like that because I can understand the rules of how that type of thing is supposed to work.

Hell, if you wanna stick with the 'language' part no language teacher is gonna stand there, read you a dictionary definitions of the words of that language and expect you to then suddenly be able to write a paragraph. Or read one for that matter. They teach you the rules of how words work together, then show you grammer and give you the steps on how to put everything together.

Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with teaching programming languages like that?

Give me a step by step example of how to go from 'i want a program to do this thing' to how to put the damn syntax together in a way that will make the computer run the program so that it will do the thing it's supposed to do. Give me hands on examples that i can walk through like math problems.

Definitions are great. But on their own they're useless.

I don't know if any of this makes any actual sense but I've taken several different classes cause this is a subject i want to learn but I can't make it click in my damn brain with the way this is taught.
