dimension hopping college au part 12
Celine: (on the phone, calling Rumi) pick up, pick up
Rumi: (answers) Hello?
Celine: Rumi! Are you okay? I've been trying to call you for awhile.
Rumi: Yeah... I'm sorry I was talking to someone. Um did you need something?
Celine: (sighs) I think we need to have a talk.
Rumi: Celine, you gave me the talk when I was eleven.
Celine: Not that talk, a different talk... The reason why I- I don't talk much about your father. The reason why you've never seen me date.... I'm a.....I was in love with Mi-yeong. When I found out she had eloped with your father I was furious. I refused to speak with her. That made Poppy pissed at me for acting like a child. she reached out after you were born, she said she was sorry she lied, said she wasn't sure how to deal with it because of her husband's career. She never ment to hurt anyone. We started talking more after that. They finally wanted me to meet you when you were about a year old....the car crash....t-they died on their way to see me. I always blamed myself for that. I felt guilty I'd pushed her away because I was upset she didn't choose me, and I was more upset that I never had the courage to tell her how I felt. I let my own cowardice turn to resentment and it cost me everything. Rumi, don't be like me. If you feel in your heart you love someone, tell them. I'll accept whoever they are with open arms so long as they make you happy.
Rumi: I- huh.....
Celine:
Rumi:
Celine:
Rumi: Wow, so much of my childhood makes more sense now. Why didn't you ever tell me?
Celine: (lets out a sad laugh) I didn't exactly accept it about myself. Neither of my parents were exactly supportive to begin with let alone accepting of gay people. After I pushed away Mi-yeong and Poppy, I started blaming my attraction to women as why my life was in shambles. When we did start talking again, I figured it was best to just keep it down so I wouldn't fuck everything up again. Even now saying I'm a lesbian is strange, and I'm starting to think I've been hiding who I am for too long.
Rumi: I- I like girls too, and boys.... I've always felt this way... I was scared to tell you. I was afraid you'd be mad.
Celine: (sniffles) Rumi, I would never be mad about that. I just want you to be happy and I'm sorry if I ever made you feel ashamed.
Rumi: (sniffles) Thanks, Cece. I love you.
Celine: I love you too, mon petite chaton.
Rumi: (cry laughs) You haven't called me that since I was eleven.
Celine: You said you hated it when you were twelve.
Rumi: (snorts) I think I was just being a moody pre-teen who thought everything their Eomma did was embarrassing. (realizes what she said) Shit, I'm sor-
Celine: (sniffling louder) You don't have to apologize for that. I only ever corrected you because I felt like I didn't deserve to be called that.
Rumi: C-can I call you that?
Celine: (laughs through her tears) I'd be honored. I love you so much.
Rumi: I love you too, Eomma.
