Three factors were used to evaluate the results of four search queries from three different databases. The databases were to be evaluated to determine their level of performance in terms of results returned to the user. The four search queries were necessary to test for one on the three factors.
Introduction
There are many methods and databases used to search for information. The results will vary depending on the methods and databases used. This makes which methods and databases that are chosen very important because the results will vary depending on the ones used to search for information.
Results
Three databases were searched: Google, library catalog, and my database containing the information in the previous post titled Project Part 1. I evaluated the results of four search queries with the building block approach, relevance, and aboutness.
My initial search query was "ships". This returned many results in Google and the library catalog, but only one in my database. The results were relevant and were satisfactory in terms of aboutness.
For the building block approach I continued my search of the three databases with the search queries "ship*", "ships AND space", "ships OR space".
Under the query "ship*", Google returned many results that were not very relevant, but were satisfactory in terms of aboutness. The library catalog returned similar results. My database did not return anything more than previously.
Under the query "ships AND space", Google returned results that were very relevant and were satisfactory in terms of aboutness. The library catalog returned very few results that were not very relevant, but were satisfactory in aboutness. My data base returned only one result, but a different one than previously as the previous result did not include space. It was relevant and was satisfactory in terms of aboutness.
Under the query "ships OR space", Google returned different results that were relevant and were satisfactory in terms of aboutness. The library catalog return very few results that were not very relevant and was not very satisfactory in terms of aboutness. My database returned both of the aforementioned results, both of which were relevant and were satisfactory in terms of aboutness.
Summary
Overall my database performed the best under each of the four search queries with the building block approach, relevance, and aboutness. Google came in second and the library catalog was last. Judging by the results of the tests for relevance and aboutness for each of the queries, the results from my database were always relevant and were satisfactory in terms of aboutness, the results from Google were not always very relevant, but were almost always satisfactory in terms of aboutness, and the results from the library catalog were not very relevant at all, but was relatively satisfactory in terms of aboutness. Using these two factors in evaluating for the building block approach, my data base returned the best results, but very few, Google returned very good results, and the library catalog returned unsatisfactory results.

So there's this... writing project I've somehow ended up taking up, which I'm tentatively calling "Project Part 2" (title idea is courtesy of sukitoorukage~)... I haven't written it yet b-but seeing as this is somewhat of a collaborative project, I'm just going to list the things I've thought about so far and if anyone wants to add or change anything, I appreciate any input!
But first, basically what "Project Part 2" is: a continuation of DNAngel from where Sugisaki-sensei left it off at "Part 1", written and drawn by us--the fans and the fandom.
It is going to be in comic format (jilli-bean has graciously volunteered to be the artist, but if other dedicated artists want to contribute, I'm sure she wouldn't mind sharing the workload? Or maybe alternating chapters, or something...) and chapters will hopefully match the average length of what Sugisaki-sensei usually puts out (20-40 pages, if you want to get an idea of how much work this is going to be before you commit to it).
As for the writing... somehow I've volunteered, b-but I wouldn't mind if other people would like to help too. I like the idea of a collaborative project as a whole, especially with input from other passionate fans such as Sarah (heijikudou) and Mary (shinichihattori). I'm not so confident about my own abilities to write in a way that would match Sugisaki-sensei's brilliance but also sate the fans--especially since almost everyone has different ideas about how DNAngel should end or what should happen or be included.
Ultimately, at the end, Kokuyoku is destroyed, and Krad and Dark "die". And it should be something that all the major players agree on (Daisuke, Satoshi, Dark... maybe Krad, but I'm not sure if he'd cooperate).
Relationship development: Riku and Daisuke, obviously, considering she just walked in on his secret at the end of "Part 1", and their trust issues need to be addressed. Plus, in the Argentine Arc, it seemed like Riku was onto Daisuke/Dark's secret... so I'm not sure how knowing the full details will impact her.
Relationship development: Risa and Daisuke. I've sort of got the feeling that ever since the Insomnia Arc, something was happening with their friendship, though it's unclear since it's not specifically addressed in the following chapters. Like... Risa finding out or figuring out about Daisuke's relationship with Dark, her reaction to it, and what she will do to help him or Dark, among other things. Their friendship needs to be clearly declared or expanded on, which I think was only done in subtle amounts throughout the series. Also considering that Risa was Daisuke's first crush, I think readdressing that or bringing it around might prove interesting (especially because there seems to be hint of that ship in the latest part, for some reason--it might affect the curse? Or Daisuke and Riku's relationship? Or even Riku and Risa's?)
Relationship development: Risa and Satoshi, and by extension Krad. What happened during the Argentine Arc needs to be expanded on or explained, and Risa's continuous involvement with Dark and the other Hikari Arts should put her questioning things--like why Satoshi was involved with Insomnia and how he helped her out ("When you get tired, think of me!"). Also, it would be interesting to see how Risa treats Krad, seeing as the first time she saw "him", "he" saved her. (I use quotes because it's still unclear exactly what happened during the Argentine Arc.)
Risa's character development in relation to the above: I feel like Risa's level of understanding and empathy really comes into play not only with Dark, but also when it comes to Satoshi--throughout the manga, they've shown something similar to a friendship, and stuff Risa notices about Satoshi gives insight to Satoshi the readers might not have noticed (Risa pointing out that Satoshi cared for "Dark" too during the Sunlight Mask heist, among other things--also noticing on that same heist that Satoshi was the one in the dress. Dark only knew because of what Saga said about giving the photos to the commander, though it's debatable). Risa's smart--it needs to show.
Daisuke's character development: Satoshi said it clearly in the last part, because "you don't understand me at all" should be an eye-opener for Daisuke. The way he's treated Dark in relation to himself, in comparison to how he himself treats Krad in relation to Satoshi, is vastly different. Daisuke should realize the stark contrast, and learn to emphasize with Satoshi, not just show him care or kindness. He needs to know what Satoshi goes through, as well as come to a full understanding of what Krad and Dark really are. He needs to learn about the curse, and make decisions based on it.
Risa needs to come to terms with the curse and what it means for her ending--seeing as the first point at the top of the list is Dark dying, I feel like Dark (and everyone involved in the curse, really) would have only gone through with whatever plan that would end up destroying Kokuyoku because Risa had accepted that that was how it was going to end up. It's her sacrifice, and it shows she's matured--I think there would be bonus points if Risa also realizes "first love isn't your only love" like Daisuke did in the beginning (also because of Dark, I believe).
The gun and Qualia and Argentine: so it's not really clear what the gun actually is. But one thing is for sure--it has a piece of Qualia on it. It was never clear what Argentine and Qualia were, since we never see their art forms, but I like to think Qualia IS that gun. At the very least, Qualia was used to repair it--a gun that could kill Dark and Krad (but not the tamers), and I sort of wonder if it can kill other arts as well--which would be interesting, considering that Qualia herself is also an art. If it is in fact true that Qualia is the gun, her (and Argentine's) role become more important. Argentine was hinted at to be important (in the Insomnia Arc, I think it was Towa or Satoshi who said Insomnia was a product of or result of Argentine, in some way), and he is the only Hikari Art known to "fix" other arts--if Qualia is connected to him the way Krad and Dark are connected as "two sides of the same coin", then Qualia might be "the only Hikari Art known to BREAK other arts". And if that's true or possible, Qualia might not be "dead", and might possibly play a bigger role in the ending rather than her one-time appearance in the Argentine Arc. (Other note: Many of these Qualia headcanons and theories came from Jaelin! Thanks for telling me about them~)
Satoshi and Krad's apparent identity crises at the end of "Part 1": It seemed like Satoshi and Krad had no real form, as if when you perceived them you only saw whichever face you (the reader, perhaps from Daisuke's perspective) wanted to see them as. It was hard to tell who was who, kind of like Daisuke right before that scene, though from Daisuke's perspective he had no control over his transformation. It was clear that Satoshi was mostly in control, but it's also obvious that mentally, he's not all there. He's desperate and it's very likely that Krad has driven him insane--we should see what exactly is going on in his mind, possibly through Daisuke learning to empathize with him (seeing as the manga has always been from Daisuke or Dark's point of view--mostly Daisuke's though).
A deeper understanding of Krad's motives. That's it.
Takeshi Saehara: It's always bothered me that Takeshi, despite being Daisuke's best friend, hasn't even picked up on his secret even a little bit. He's not dumb, even if he never noticed Emiko take his cameras/gear (though I think he surely should have noticed--those are his prized reporting tools after all. It really bothered me that he didn't). He's smart and resourceful, and he shows it occasionally throughout the series--and he's more observant and loyal than anyone really gives him credit for. I'm thinking of the time he "challenged Dark to find the real kidnapper" during the Argentine Arc--he had faith in Dark despite being total strangers, as Dark and Takeshi have never actually spoken to each other, and I get the feeling he caught on that Dark was at least always nearby the school, considering the School Newspaper he printed that challenge in doesn't make it past school grounds. Despite having never spoken to Dark, Takeshi seemed to know that a challenge like that would rile him up and threaten his pride enough that he'd try it--and Dark could have only done that if he saw the paper. A paper of a local school he doesn't go to. But Takeshi was still confident that it would work--and it sort of did. So yeah, in the end game I think Takeshi definitely needs to be in on Daisuke's secret/the Niwa curse. I get the feeling, also, that if he talked to Dark, for real, he'd connect the puzzle pieces faster than Risa and Riku would have. And if he does get to know the secret, he's definitely loyal enough to keep it one--he knows when to be serious (shown through instances of interactions with his dad, as well as the Menou chapter, and when he was worried about Daisuke being sick, etc.). Also, in the aftermath, I get the feeling he'd be the one to help pull Daisuke through--like he knows Daisuke well enough to know which idiotic shenanigans would distract or cheer him up.
Keiji Saga and Funabashi: His arc was never, ever wrapped up or explained properly. Like who he was working for. Why Funabashi could apparently spot secret entrances that so far only the Niwas and Satoshi have been able to see. Why he erased the footage of Dark during the Sunlight Mask heist. Personally, if I were to wrap up his story, I'd put a twist on it--Saga might be working for Hiwatari (in a way, I suppose, similar to how Mio was working for him in the Anime), while Funabashi was actually on the Niwa's side (for whatever reason. Maybe he was hired by the Niwas, or he's a friend or son of a friend of Kosuke's, or was from a family that might be similar to Hiwatari's--an outsider who knows about the curse/is trained to pass on the knowledge or whatever if something happens to the Niwas). Saga seems a little too uninformed (being surprised that Dark and Daisuke showed up at the same time) to be in on anything--but maybe it'd be a cool twist if he were also on the good side somehow. Like he only wanted to find out if Dark and Daisuke were one person so he could help them. (Or... just exploit them/blackmail them so they'd work for his company/film for his movies/commercials/etc. That seems more like something he'd do, actually, but at this point in the manga/plot, it's too near the end to include a new plot element like that. As well as figuring out how to deal with it.)
Emiko and Daiki's motives for raising Daisuke the way they did should probably be explained. (This due to the recent discussion tepperz started.)
Kosuke needs a bigger role than just the smart research guy. He made an impact on Satoshi when they talked for the first time--he needs to do that again. Maybe with Riku, or Risa. Maybe he gives Satoshi hope that there might be a way out of the curse, because he sees it from the outside--things are different this generation (because Daisuke didn't know about Dark, because there are two Sacred Maidens, because Satoshi has HELP in trying to break the curse on his family, because he's friends with Daisuke...) and that might change Satoshi's perspective.
Rio Hikari. Whatever she did to Satoshi, it stuck with him. Also I feel like we need to correct the timeline a bit, because canonically she "died fifteen years ago" and I've talked before about how that Satoshi remembering his mom meant that he's definitely older than 14. Maybe it's a plot point. Maybe Satoshi being older means he's closer to the end of his life than Daisuke realizes.
The gun and Dark: Daisuke/Dark/that weird merge between them was shot by Satoshi/Krad. It obviously stopped the merge (or whatever this was) and changed them back into Daisuke. But we don't know what happened to Dark--was he killed, or what? Personally, I think that since they were only partly merged, the bullet might have forced Dark into a dormant state. It could lead to some interesting drama, with Daisuke trying to figure out how to get him back--and with his friends too (Risa wouldn't let him just disappear like that!)--and maybe with or without Satoshi's help.
In relation to the above, about Satoshi: While I'm sure Krad/Satoshi would love for that to be the end of their duties, the idea that "dormant" means Dark could come back next generation and that would mean Satoshi didn't succeed. Not to mention, to break the curse for good, I'm pretty sure Dark needs to be there, not dormant. If Satoshi's ends up helping the group (maybe after Kosuke or Risa or someone talks to him) in trying to end the curse once and for all, it also means he'd have to help reverse whatever the gun did to Dark. (He might very well be the only one who knows what happened... though Hiwatari might also.)
Maybe Satoshi is the one who tells Risa about the curse? Perhaps when, during the development where "the white wings that saved Risa" is explained, it could be an opportunity for Satoshi to be the one to explain the curse to Risa, rather than Daisuke or Dark--Daisuke would be busy explaining to Riku, and Dark would be... wherever he is (if this is before they undo whatever the gun did). Given Satoshi and Risa's developing friendship, it might even be more appropriate--Dark and Daisuke might not have given her a straight answer in an attempt to keep her out of things. I think Satoshi, given that he has just as much right to tell whoever he wants as much as Daisuke and Dark do, might choose to involve her because he's seen that she's already involved (Argentine, Insomnia, Dark...) and might very well be until the end. Not to mention, since he's the one who shot Dark... maybe he feels guilty. Or maybe Risa demanded answers out of him when she can't find Dark.
