somehow i wrote a lot of bunny fluff and accidentally made more headcanons on with’s species that I think are r-really really cool.

I started thinking of a D.N.Angel/Assassination classroom crossover.

Koro-sensei decides to do a lesson over different historical artworks over the years and decides to have the students of class 3-E visit Azumano, due to it’s vast museums of art.

Nagisa expresses that he once lived in Azumano, and that his childhood friend could give them a tour. 

I can see Nagisa and Daisuke being really good friends, but super childish with each other, since Nagisa is practically invisible when he wants to be, and Daisuke can be super sly. (Plus I like to picture child!Daisuke with sticky fingers and child!Nagisa egging him on to steal more candy).

I also see Karma being super jealous that Nagisa can be childish with Daisuke and that he has another redheaded friend. And he wants to capture Dark so he could pin his wings on his wall.

And then Dark meeting Koro-sensei....

While I’m thinking about DNAngel AUs.... ATLA AU? Bending AU? Hmm. This, I feel, is another one of those now classic crossover/fandom AU must-haves, alongside HP. Unfortunately DN was probably too old to catch that wave so none exist...

So here we go? Basics I guess:

Dark: probably a spirit actually, but if he were a bender, air for sure. He’s a free spirit, high-flying, hard to catch, and actually kind of benevolent? (He puts arts to sleep rather than destroy them, for the most part... with a few exceptions.)

Daisuke: maybe a nonbender, but he’s actually likely to be any of the elements but fire, I think? Hmm... I want to think he’s air too, but I kind of feel like he might be more suited to water. (It IS the element of change, and that’s where Daisuke’s story starts...)

Satoshi: Earth/Metal, without a doubt. With his hardships... (plus it’s the easiest element to associate with art, since he/his family can use it to make sculptures if he wanted to.)

Krad: Fire/Lightning. He’s destruction and passion and obsession without restraint, and hard to control. Though again, like Dark, I think he’s a spirit.

Riku: I can see her being a firebender too? But like Daisuke I sort of see her as a nonbender, or at least someone who’d rather not use bending.

Risa: Same as Riku, but I can definitely see her as passionate enough to really embrace firebending.

Towa: Air...? I’m not really sure if she fits the other bending types. Like Dark, though, I see her more as a spirit.

With: He’s a FAMILIAR! Probably of the air alignment like the flying bisons and lemurs. Definitely Dark’s familiar, possibly Daisuke’s too. (Though he wouldn’t like Daisuke being a waterbender, if he is one...)

Argentine: Fire/Lightning, mostly because of his name and also because of the lightning he wielded in canon. Likely an angry spirit who needs to be calmed.

Qualia: Water? Calm and free-flowing and adaptable and understanding, she IS “change” (for other people, like Argentine, at least). She’s definitely a spirit though, perhaps associated with water like Yue and the Painted Lady are.

Takeshi: Earth, and maybe Metal. I don’t know, he just feels like it--maybe it’s the stubbornness and how grounded he always seems.

Kosuke: Water or Air, definitely. He’s calm and disciplined enough for either. I can see him being a really good air temple monk. But this may be where Daisuke’s waterbending comes from if he’s a waterbender.

Emiko: probably a nonbender (it would go well if the rest of the family were benders and she wasn’t, which would be a good parallel to her being the only girl in 20 generations of Dark), but if she did have an element, the happy and hyper Air, or perhaps passionate Fire?

Daiki: Air. Mostly for family reasons/formerly hosting Dark.

There’s probably other characters but I’m focusing on these ones for now.

Not sure which one of them would be an avatar, if any, but this was just an idea for an AU if they were ever in the Avatar world and were benders? uwu

Imagine Dark being a spirit who attached itself to the Niwas though, and he’s so used to airbenders to help him do whatever it is to keep his spirit calm/happy/etc... And then there’s Daisuke, who’s suddenly a waterbender and he has no idea how to deal with that or how to use that or anything??

But if water is the element of change, then Daisuke in this case is exactly what Dark needs.

The Niwas being Airbenders though, while the Hikari are Earthbenders... it just works so well?! (Earth and Air are opposite elements after all! They don’t get along well and are hardest for the avatar to learn if it’s their opposite!)

Imagine Satoshi looking for the next Niwa to catch Dark... he’s expecting an Airbender, not a Waterbender. He wouldn’t know how to deal with it either.

(Also Krad being a Firebender type is probably also why he doesn’t get along so well with the Hikaris--Dark and the Niwas shared an element, Krad and the Hikaris apparently do not...)

This blog was created by Aki (hiwatari-satoshi) and Nila (lal-nila-syrin) as a way to find, organize, and recommend DNAngel fanfics in an easily searchable, shareable way.

With the hiatus and the age of the series, good fanfictions are hard to come by! There are nearly 5000 fanfics on Fanfiction.Net and ArchiveOfOurOwn, and even some lost from the days of LiveJournal. There’s bound to be some hidden treasures in there somewhere, right?
