Fire Walking Update ~£5000 Raised
Email from the organisers on our recent fire walk challenge:
"Good morning,
Firstly, apologies for not having got back in touch with you sooner - with the Council’s last-minute cancellation of the Fireworks display and the implications this had for the Firewalk it has taken us a little longer than usual to finalise our costs etc.and get the event closed off.
Obviously the cancellation of the Fireworks display had major implications for the success of the event - particularly as we had to cancel our bucket collection within the footprint of the event which was expected to play host to around 10,000 people.
However, I am delighted to be able to tell you that despite the unfortunate circumstances, thanks to your efforts the event still raised over £5,000 towards our work supporting local people with learning disabilities. We are absolutely thrilled with this as it will allow us to make a real difference and empower the lives of the people we support. If anyone does still have any sponsorship to hand-in could I ask that you get this to me by the end of next week (December 23rd) so that we can finalise all the finances around the event. Many thanks again for your support and understanding of the last minute changes that we had to make to event - please spread the word about the event as we will certainly be bringing the Firewalk back again in 2017. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.“
