another old drafted post from July that I may as well post even if I'm not gonna use the concept

Shadow's hedgehog DNA donor and Sonic's father

gonna name him Nick (Nicholas) as a reference to Nicky from the Sonic manga, plus, well, soNIC (Amy and Miles are regular names so there's no reason he can't have one)

he was a top Olympian athlete which made him an ideal candidate for the Ultimate Life-form's (non-alien) DNA donor

(edits: changed skin tone to match Shadow’s and made eyes brown to be “normal” as Shadow’s red comes from his Black Arms DNA)

after both realizing Sonic already acts like Shadow's annoying little brother and getting further into the "Shadow was originally a Death Leech" theory, I decided to nix it as I thought making them surprise related would ruin the happenstance brotherly behavior alternatively, I could go with the rest of the idea and just have "Nick" be a volunteer for testing Chaos energy exposure, thus explaining Sonic's affinity for Chaos energy without him and Shadow actually being related (maybe Shadow's hedgehog DNA came from a database rather than any one individual)

the Death Leech that Black Doom resurrected through wasn't the only thing left on the ARK

there were also failed attempts at the Ultimate Lifeform and Black Arms tissue, the same tissue seen on the Black Comet

also, the just a head there kinda makes the whole Shadow starting out as a Death Leech seem more likely

If it ever turned out that Gerald did base Shadow’s appearance off a mural of Super Sonic, that would piss Shadow off even more than knowing he’s descended from Black Doom.

He hates being descended from Black Doom and feels deeply insecure about having alien DNA at first, but at least he inherited some cool powers and a kickass color scheme from it. Shadow’s eventually able to embrace that side of himself because it grants him the power he needs to save the world. It also kinda-sorta made him immortal, so there’s that.

But being modeled after Sonic grants him nothing of value and instead subjects Shadow to endless “faker” taunts, along with the humiliation of knowing that the guy he can’t stand did his cool thing before he did.

I don’t think he’d ever get over that.

Introduction

Okay so… you ever look at Silver and think, “Where the heck did he really come from?” I mean yeah, we know he’s from the future and all that, but something's off. What if I told you he was never meant to exist the way we know him? What if Silver was part of a plan… a backup plan… a contingency?

The Setup: G.U.N. and Chaos Energy

G.U.N. has always been shady—like, why were they so obsessed with Shadow? Remember, they didn’t just imprison him, they studied him. They needed to understand Chaos Control. Why? Because they feared what Shadow could do if he went rogue.

So what do you do when you create a weapon that might go off the rails?

You build another one. A cleaner one. A controlled one.

The Plan: Project Silver

What if G.U.N. began secretly working on a project to replicate Shadow’s abilities—but with better control? Enter: Silver. Unlike Shadow’s dark and edgy nature, Silver is calmer, more obedient, and shows far less emotional instability. Coincidence? Nah. Silver is literally Shadow’s opposite in both color scheme and temperament.

But here's the crazy part—he’s better at Chaos Control.

Even without a Chaos Emerald sometimes. What if G.U.N. figured out how to refine the Chaos energy just enough to enhance it… and then sent the result to the future?

The Twist: Why the Future?

Here’s the plot twist: G.U.N. realized they couldn’t risk Shadow escaping and finding out what they did. So they sent Silver far into the future, wiping records and letting him believe he had a different purpose. But the deeper truth is this—Silver was meant to replace Shadow if things went south.

And they kinda did. Remember, Shadow escaped, Sonic became a thing, and suddenly G.U.N. had no control anymore. So Silver remained tucked away in time… until he wasn’t.

Silver’s arrival wasn’t fate—it was a failsafe. G.U.N. planned for a world without Sonic or Shadow. A world where their perfect warrior would rise if all else failed.

And guess what?

He did.
