Hi! Is there an anatomy to the winged people from your Project Wings? Or is it the usual wings on backs it's fiction, people thing?

I haven't 100% decided yet how exactly the wings work or where exactly they are connected. I need to do additional research but every time i try i keep getting distracted by other bird facts. xD

I'm not the best at this kind of technical stuff so it tends to be slow going for me.

I think it's also important to note that while these kinds of technical world building things are fun, and I very much enjoy exploring them, in this specific case it's not really the point of the story.

I don't believe this is a thing I have talked about here yet, but the wings are being used in this story because flight is a common symbol of freedom, and freedom/subjugation is a major theme of the story.

So while they are actual physical things that are there in the story, they are also metaphorical/symbolic of other things in and outside of the story.

I'd really like to get things moving more with Project Wings but while I think I have strong ideas about the characters, the worldbuilding, and the themes I want to cover with it

The plot is proving to be more difficult.

I have a few other 'Slice of Life' style projects like Project Baby, Project Omega, and my christmas project (which I think I might call Project Holiday going forward)

But with those ones, I have a... i don't know what to call it, a basic clear something that drives the rest of the plot, and off of which I can build sub plots and stuff.

With Project Baby it's [CC]'s unplanned pregnancy.

With Project Omega it's [SH] and [BH] being continuously brought together by the kids.

With my christmas project it's getting unexpectedly snowed in during a holiday party.

I think I need to find something like that for Project Wings, but I'm not sure how to make that happen. With the others that was the first thing I came up with, so the ideas just kind of spontaneously came to me.

I've been trying to give Project Wings space and time for that same thing to happen, but it doesn't feel like things are moving at all on that front and I've kind of already done all of the other work I can, I need to figure this out to be able to do anything more on this project.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Have any of you ever dealt with a similar situation? What worked for you?

Project Wings - Hub

Project Wings is a Fantasy / Romance / Slice of Life story. 

It doesn’t have much in the way of plot yet, just vibes, research, and a lot of world building. It’s set in a modern world not super dissimilar to our own, but populated by people with wings.
