Trey McCaffrey Blog 2
For this blog post I chose Project HOPE. They are a global humanitarian organization who renders aid to areas affected by disasters. After looking at their social media accounts, none of them have over fifty thousand followers. Many of their posts on Instagram, Facebook, and X a.k.a Twitter, don’t have much engagement as far as things like reposts on X, likes on Instagram or hearts on Facebook. Despite this low metric they still choose to continue their goals of distributing humanitarian aid to places all around the world. On Instagram they have 22.8 thousand followers and the account has been active since 2014 and was recently verified in 2020, most likely after they distributed tremendous aid throughout the COVID pandemic. On X, they have just under fourteen thousand followers and they joined the platform in 2008 and they were verified in 2012. On Facebook Project Hope has 49 thousand followers and joined in 2008, although no date of account verification is supplied.
This organization could improve their metrics by possibly engaging with people that have higher followings that are also interested in the same goals in supplying humanitarian aid. Collaborating with someone that has a higher following could boost their popularity and the amount of people that view and follow their social media. This influx of new views and followers on their social media accounts could in turn supply them with more donations to their fundraisers like the one they are running to supply aid and resources to the areas and people affected by the recent California wildfires. I feel that this plan of action could help Project HOPE to be able to give more assistance and resources to those affected by terrible disasters worldwide.
One advanced metric they could improve is their X account. Their X account seems to be the least followed account but also is where they post the most. I think if they promoted their other accounts on other social media it would cause people to venture between the accounts to see what each one has to offer. Also on X, the interaction with their posts is very low. I think if they tried to promote on X a little more it would help those metrics. As for channel metrics I think if they went to Instagram, where they get to most engagement and showed their other social media and what they offered that is different to Instagram they would be able to get more from their contributors. If more people know about what each of their social media posts and the information supplied to the public and their viewers, more people would be inclined to interact with posts and to support the organization by things like donating or volunteering within the organization themselves. Finally they could improve their behavioral metrics by posting videos for people to watch. Almost all of their content is images that people may just skim over before continuing to scroll. Although they have a TikTok account it has under 2 thousand followers. In today's day and age videos are king where people don’t have to scroll through images on say Instagram or Facebook. I think if they posted videos of tips for people affected by disasters or videos of aid being rendered it would bring more attention to their posts.
