The Tampa Theatre is an alleged haunted theatre located in Tampa Florida. The Tampa Theatre was built in 1926 and has had countless shows shown to audiences over the years. It is said that the projectionist booth is haunted by an old employee by the name of Foster Fink Finley who was a projectionist who had a heart attack during the showing of a movie. Reports say that Finley’s old partner tried to close the door when he was leaving the projectionist’s booth one night but something grabbed the door and wouldn’t let him close it. There have been reports of objects disappearing however people say that if you ask the ghost politely to return the item, you will get it back. There have been reports of cold spots and the sound of dragging chains. In 1984, a few psychics came to the theatre and they said they felt a strong presence and saw an apparition in a mirror band even more chilling, the heard the faint sound of an old Bugs Bunny cartoon while they were in the lobby.

There’s nothing quite like being called a relentless fanatic by people who demonstrate time and again that they are relentless fanatics when you’ve actually changed your position from listening to them. Just not enough for their liking. 

Therefore, I am the grand dragon of the Klan as far as they are concerned.

What, between the ill followers and tags I’ve received to ‘call me out’ or bring things to my attention just in the hopes that I will bite, the all coming from accounts which can accurately be described as monomaniacal.

I might as well give them a label since the pathetic “Stan’ epithet has been lobbed at myself.

I dub them now Projectionists.

It seems apt for multiple behaviors I have witnessed.

Japan-Korea Projectionist Meeting in Fukuoka.

In the symposium, we will have a lecture and also a discussion joined by the Japanese and Korean projectionists. The speakers will broadly discuss the works of film projectionist by sharing their knowledge and experience. The topic will include the art, beauty and thrill of film screenings. They will also give the presentations on the current situation of film exhibitions in both countries, referring to the international exchange and the possibility of future collaboration.

The workshops will offer the learning opportunities on the practical skills, technique and technology of the film projection.

In special screening, we will exhibit “Where Spring Comes Late” (1970/106min/Japan/ Dir. Yoji Yamada) “Ode to My Father” (2014/127min/CJ Entertainment/ Dir. Yoon Je-kyoon） “A Vanishing Trade” (2001, 23 min, Mongolia, Dir. D. Tsenddorj / T. Sarantuya）that is in our archived collection.

This program is a collaboration between Japan Community Cinema Center, the Preliminary Committee of Japan-Korea Projectionist Meeting in Fukuoka and the Fukuoka City Public Library Film Archive.
