AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND I couldn't stop cleaning! haha!

If you've seen my post prior to this, you'd know what I'm talking about. :D

Our private sala, ever since we moved, has always been the most ignored and, therefore, the most dusty and chaotic place in the house. We didn't even sit on the chairs because so much stuff has been placed on them. Even if you wanted to, the place would be so dusty, you'd want to leave. haha. Every time my sister and I would have sleepovers, only our closest friends could come upstairs 'cause we've always known they wouldn't care. But, if it were our classmates, or other people we're not really close with, we'd just sleep downstairs. We couldn't let them see the disaster that is our private sala! HAHA

I would clean the rooms in the second floor frequently, but I never wanted to clean the private sala - it was just so chaotic.

Well, I've had enough of the dust, the mess, the disorder of things. I've decided not to let my vacation end without dealing with this disaster once and for all! I knew I'd be spending probably more than the time I spent cleaning my parents' room (check out my previous post if you want to know how long it took me :D); enduring the process of sweeping, vacuuming, and dusting EVERYTHING; and rearranging - lifting heavy, wooden furniture around. But, what the heck, NO PAIN, NO GAIN.

I was initially going for a Bohemian look, but I couldn't find any more carpet at home! Good thing I found a roll of banig in one of our storage rooms. My dad has always been a fan of native items, so I thought it would be nice to have an area upstairs that's everything-native.

And, after all the blood (I did get a few cuts :p), sweat, and tears (who wouldn't cry? MEHEHE), OUR PRIVATE SALA LOOKS MORE LIKE HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE! I can just imagine the look on our friends' faces when they see the major change. :D :D :D

I only have less than a week until school starts, and, well, I can finally say that I can study in this place. :P

What's on top of the TV, you ask? That's the antenna for we have no cable. haha

On to the next project!

Yesterday, I decided to fix how my parents' room looked. Man, it took me more than 12 hours cleaning, rearranging, and redecorating! Since I started my project of changing the look of our house (the second floor to begin with), I only used things I could find at home. I find it fun going through boxes of unused items and bringing them back in the open. My mom's favorite color has always been orange, so, most of our stuff at home are in the shade of orange. But, fortunately, we had a few things that were the contrast of it. I'm still saving up for the rest of the materials - which I could no longer find at home - I need for the decorations and accessories, and I'm definitely buying more stuff in the shades of green, blue, and purple.

I just hope they keep the cleanliness, though. :p

my first DIY lampshade!

Some tips:

1. Before buying your materials, check what you have at home first. I was fortunate to find sinamay in one of my boxes.

2. Patience! It took me 3 hours to get the wiring done (and it's probably because I have no experience whatsoever :p), but your time and effort are guaranteed to be worth it once it's done!

3. Be creative! Ran out of wire? Use your old guitar strings! Well, if you don't own a guitar, you might want to buy wire. Haha.

4. Be careful! Sometimes, making lampshades would require you to work with sharp objects, depending on the materials you want to use. Also, you'd want to handle the bulb with care. We don't want to inconvenience ourselves by looking for replacement, do we? :)

5. If you think you can do it, go for it! Anyone can create art! :)

I know I'm completely satisfied with my work, and I'm definitely doing this again!

On to the next project! :)
