John and Alecto are both Prometheus, with necromancy filling the role of fire.
Alecto gave necromacy only to John, but John did something in the Resurrection so that other humans would have necromancy, even though Alecto's inner monologue shows that she'd deliberately given this gift only to him.
And Alecto, who gave necromancy to John, a human - a divine being giving something powerful to a mortal. And John, who is also a metaphor for Zeus, chaining her to a rock for her trouble.
