Speaking of translations of classics in modern slang: have you seen the Iliad of MC Homer? It's a work-in-progress hip-hop translation by MC Lula (James Mendes Hodes) and it is amazing.

the most common joke in my FC is that the L70 class ability for AST will be a long-CD ability to pick a card. like 5 minute cooldown long.

You know, if Ufotable really wanted to do an Alisha-focused anime, they should have just done a political drama where Alisha tries to wrangle her fucking kingdom and deal with that disaster while Sorey is offscreen doing the Shepherd thing and fleshed out her plotline that way. Maybe occasional flashes to something Sorey does that causes Political Shitstorm that she has to fix. I would have happily watched that and the pacing would have possibly been much better instead of this mangled mess.

you see, that would have been a decent compromise -- frame the anime as being the game from a wholly different POV, instead of a straight adaptation. i doubt it would’ve been able to fill 24 episodes, but ffs, it would have been something. 

but, of course, if they don’t continue to pretend they’re an adaptation and give a few lines every other episode or so to the legitimate main characters, then they can’t wring that sweet sweet merch money out of sor//mik fans. i feel for ufotable; it’s so tough being a bunch of money-hungry hacks in this day and age.

Maybe not 24, but I think "A Thousand Miles of Wind, The Sky At Dawn" arc from Twelve Kingdoms (which I admit I thought of first when positing this alternative "Alisha tries to fix her shitty kingdom") was 16 eps, right? Which would have been a good length to shoot for. Or hell, do "Alisha's political dramas" for one season and make the other season a prequel focusing on Michael up through Camlann.

i thought that arc of 12K also dragged on a bit long, but i can chalk that one up to personal preference. and i’d kill for a michael-centric season done by a competent writing staff. i like that human dumpster fire far too much considering the nephew-murdering and world-dooming. bonus points for dumping fuel on my muse/selene needs.

i own the DVDs as well; i looked over the usual suspects for legal streaming and found nothing :( oh well. while i liked the anime, i enjoyed the books more as a whole, anyway. and they’re fan-translated for free online after tokyopop’s disastrous localization attempts.
