You know, if Ufotable really wanted to do an Alisha-focused anime, they should have just done a political drama where Alisha tries to wrangle her fucking kingdom and deal with that disaster while Sorey is offscreen doing the Shepherd thing and fleshed out her plotline that way. Maybe occasional flashes to something Sorey does that causes Political Shitstorm that she has to fix. I would have happily watched that and the pacing would have possibly been much better instead of this mangled mess.
you see, that would have been a decent compromise -- frame the anime as being the game from a wholly different POV, instead of a straight adaptation. i doubt it would’ve been able to fill 24 episodes, but ffs, it would have been something.
but, of course, if they don’t continue to pretend they’re an adaptation and give a few lines every other episode or so to the legitimate main characters, then they can’t wring that sweet sweet merch money out of sor//mik fans. i feel for ufotable; it’s so tough being a bunch of money-hungry hacks in this day and age.
