warning: thoughts of suicide.
375 days, without food or light, 35 hours without water. And it felt so right. The feeling of hunger was satisfying, the feeling of the deep pain twisting in his gut was exactly what he wanted.
He wanted to feel pain, hunger, thirst and darkness all in one go.
Because that was probably the fastest way to die.
___ "It’s funny kid,“ a deep rumble spoke through as he opened his eyes, green staring up at the white ceiling fan that was spinning hypnotically above him. “this is what, the third? fifth time you’ve tried to kill yourself?” Izuku’s eyes squeezed themselves shut as the needle in his arm was pushed into his vein.
"You’re not gonna succeed kid. Not while you’re under my responsibility.“ ___ "Aizawa-”
"Sensei,“ the voice of the figure standing in front of him corrected then turned to look at the teen leaning on the table. Midoriya’s chapped lips opened slightly before a weak sorry whispered its way out. He felt breathless for some reason, as Aizawa took a step closer. “And what, exactly are you sorry for?” “For… for trying…”
“For trying to kill yourself and for trying to test my patience?” Izuku licked his bottom lip, “Bo-both.” “What…” Aizawa’s large and lanky figure towered him, “is exactly the problem Midoriya? You… you’re not progressing, you keep failing your missions-” “It was a slip up, I promise next time-”
“There’s no next time if you don’t improve here,” he tapped the boy’s forehead, “the conflict, the hate and negativity needs to stop,” Shouta’s eyes roamed the teen’s face and Midoriya stilled, “if there’s something bothering you, you can tell me.”
Izuku bit his lip, “I… I don’t know!” he exclaimed, shaking his head vigorously, “I’m just messing things up! I can’t make you proud! I can’t do anything right because I have no idea… what I’m doing, I don’t know what I want to do, I don’t know who I want to be, I.. I’m scared, I’m…” he trailed off, clutching his chest tight as he looked up at his teacher, his green eyes overflowing with tears, “Life is a god damn ocean and I-I have no idea…” His hands reached for Aizawa and wrapped around the man’s middle, “how to swim.”
Aizawa’s frown fell, his own strong arms wrapped around the small boy, hand threading through his emerald hair, he mumbled a small ‘alright now,’ before kneeling down, eyes focused on the teen’s watery green eyes, “But that’s what I’m here for; to teach you.”
