Tommy lay in bed with his palms pressed against his closed eyes until he saw stars float across the blackness.
“Jesus, babe,” Sal said. “We had dinner with my family. We didn’t fight a wildfire.”
“I know. It just takes a lot out of me. They’re very.. loud. It’s..” Tommy sighed, hating to use therapy buzzwords, but needing the shorthand. “Triggering..”
Sal laid down, wrapping his arms around him tightly. “You’re home now. You’re safe.”
Tommy pulled Sal on top of him like a giant weighted blanket.
“This help?” Sal murmured.
Tommy nodded.
After a moment, Sal said, “Didn’t know anxiety boners were a thing.”
“When my smoking hot boyfriend is laying on top of me.. they are.”
